there are two different kinds of devices DZJ, there are some e-readers that are specifically made for just reading books..These have a special type of display called "electrophoretic" display or what we call e-ink...they are light on the wallet, don't put a lot of strain on eyes and on one of them "the Kindle" internet is free..They are black and white though, which is fine for people who just want to read books on them plus they are much lighter..Best in this category are Kindle Touch and Nook.

The other type are called tablets, they are miniaturized laptops-ish..They don't quite provide all the functionality a laptop does but they cover all the basics..example iPad, galaxy tab, blackberry playbook etc..They provide a lot of what a laptop does, their digital screen though is an LCD, thats the big difference. Top ones in this category are Apple iPad, Samsung Galaxy tabs (S2) or the Blackberry Playbook.

Putting the books on the device is fairly simple but sort of device specific. Also if you're gonna go shopping don't look at their store rates, you get better deals through canadapost..weird I know, but lemme know if you are looking to buy i'll tell you where to get them

If you already have an Android device/phone/iPad, you can download classics from Android Market/Play Store/iTunes for free. I guess this might also be true for Kindles etc.

It's not all that difficult to read on your phone if you have a decent size screen and you turn down the brightness.

DZJ, get an iPad since aside from having access to an unparalleled platform, you can also read and write in Pashto.

You will be able to take advantage of our Kitabtoon in an iPad as well. By forking out 150-200, you can find a decent iPad. You don't necessarily need the latest one to read a book.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!
