Here is a very kool animation of a typical genetic engineering (or gene cloning/genetic manipulation) experiment.

They use vaccine from viruses but its called attenuated vaccines, where the virulence of the pathogen is reduced but it is still alive..so it causes an immune response but not the disease

          Why not?
Well we can't allow Human Reproductive Cloning due to a number of social, cultural, religious, and political reasons (Many countries have allowed Huamn Therapeutic cloning though).

Human reproductive cloning involves the artifical generation of humans withour any natural reproductive process, thereby reomving the need of parental reproductive process. This could potentially lead to a number of social problems for the newborn.Who would be the parents? What would be his family? Also, we now have the power to change the genetic makeup of the individual so that you can have more beautiful, more intelligent, or more FIT humans which could bring imbalance in the society. This could lead to more gender bias because more people would be interested in getting sons rather than daughters. And the list goes on......

Animal reproductive cloning is allowed and hence if your pet dies, you can take few hair strands of your dog to the lab and get the same dog

Genetics is THE most fascinating science class I've ever taken. The thing is, it makes the most sense and is SO relevant to life.

Just make sure you get a really, REALLY good teacher because, ultimately, that's how you decide whether the class is worth it or not. All those who teach the class are knowledgeable, but not all of them know how to teach it or how to pass on that passion to their students.

Ahhhhh...Molecular Genetics was my most favorite subject....Only in this subject i had always good grades....i wished to get it for specialization....but alas, i had to choose Animal Nutrition (due to lack of good labs + lack of jobs availability in M.Genetics)
