Quran says the following on the origin of Iron:
“We sent down Iron with its great*inherent strength and its many benefits for humankind.” (Quran 57:25)

The first use of iron came from meteors. (Source)
Note = We are not talking about all of the Iron produced on earth but Iron which came from meteors

    M. E. Walrath in his book History of the Earth’s Formation wrote
"Iron is not natural to the earth.* It did not form on the earth but came down to earth from outer space.* This may sound strange but it’s true.* Scientists have found that billions of years ago the earth was stuck by meteorites.* These meteorites were carrying Iron from distant stars which had exploded"*
[M. E. Walrath, History of the Earth’s Formation]*

Talking about Iron from meteors David Darling* writes in 2003*
"Since they are also denser than stony meteorites, iron meteorites also account for almost 90% of the mass of all known meteorites, about 500 tons"
[The Universal Book of Astronomy: From the Andromeda Galaxy to the Zone of Avoidance by David Darling (2003), p. 260]*

Allah uses the words ‘sent down’ for Iron.* It is clear from the verse that Iron was not an earthly material, but was sent down for the benefit of humanity.* The fact that Iron came down to earth from outer space is something which could not be known by the primitive science of the 7th century.

An English physicist, Paul Davies, “The origin of life on Earth-and perhaps other planets too-may well have depended on their volatile-rich material; the death of the dinosaurs served to clear the way for the ascent of mammals and, eventually, mankind. It seems we owe our very existance to a chance astronomical catastrophe.Whether mankind will someday go the way of the dinosaurs remains to be seen.”

Carl Sagan describes the introduction of life on the planet and possibly its extinction in one line, “Comets gave it and comets taketh it away.”
The Holy Quran would use the term ‘all that is between the two,’ to describe comets. It says:

"We (Allah) have created the heavens and the earth and all that is between the two in accordance with the requirements of truth and wisdom, and the appointed hour is sure to come; so forbear generously.Indeed, thy Lord is the Great Creator, the All Knowing."
      (Al Quran 15:86-87)

Talking about the role of these clouds in the beginning of life on our planet, Paul Davies, an English physicist, writer and*broadcaster, currently a professor at Arizona State University, writes in the Fifth Miracle:

"Astronomers who study the chemistry of interstellar gas clouds are convinced that dust particles play an important role. Chemicals attach to their solid surfaces and react in complicated ways. It isn’t hard to spot dust in space. Glance at the night sky near the constellation of Cygnus and you will notice great black blotches in the Milky Way. These dark areas are created by large clouds of dust that block out the starlight from beyond. The culprits are very tiny grains-typically a thousandth of a millimeter across, but extending down to molecular size. Their composition is the product of many physical and chemical influences-ultraviolet radiation, stellar winds, shock waves, cosmic radiation. They include silicates, ices, and carbonaceous material such as graphite, as well as many organics. Interstellar clouds can be many light-years across, so the total mass of dust in them is enormous; tiny they may be, but interstellar grains could be the unwitting chemists that spawned life."

Quran describes in verse that between earth and heaven..the 2 are at play.....clearly shows there are celestial bodies in between the two playing a certain role.

"And We (Allah) created not the heaven and the earth and all that is between the two in play. If We had wished to find a pastime, We would surely have found it in what is with Us if at all We were to do such a thing."(Al Quran 21:17-18)

Splitting of the moon an Amazing story proved by astronautes

In a TV interview with the Egyptian Geologist Dr. Zaghloul Annajar, the anchor asked him about the verse:

"The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad [PBUH] to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon)." (Quran 54:1) whether it contains any Quranic scientific astounding facts?

Dr. Zaghloul answered saying that he has a story to tell about this verse.

He started explaining that at a time he delivered a lecture at Cardiff University in the West of Britain. The attendees included both Muslims and non-Muslims. A vital dialogue was taking place around scientific facts included in the Noble Quran. During the course of the lecture, a Muslim young man stood asking me, Sir Do you see in the Saying of Al Haq Tabarak wa Ta`ala (Allah the Truth) may He be Exalted - and he referred to the above mentioned verse - any indication to the scientific facts included in the Quran? Dr. Najjar answered: No because scientific astounding discoveries are interpreted through science whereas a miracle is something supernatural, which may not be interpreted through the usual. The splitting of the moon is a miracle, which happened to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in order to prove his prophecy. Tangible miracles are only a testimony of truth for those who witnessed it. It is only that the incident was mentioned in Quran and Prophet's Sunnah that made us believe other wise we Muslims of this era would have never believed in it. In addition that we know for sure that Allah is most capable of anything. At that point Dr. Zaghloul narrated the story of moon splitting as included in Sunnah books.

He said, Sunnah books tell that five years before the immigration of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from Mecca to Medina, a group of people from the tribe of Quraish came challenging him saying: Oh Muhammad if you were really a Prophet and a Messenger bring to us a miracle to establish this fact. So he asked them what do you want? They said in an effort to complicate matters for him: split the moon for us. The Messenger of ALLAH (PBUH) stood supplicating to Allah to support him and grant him victory in this hard situation. Allah may He be Exalted inspired him to sign towards the moon with his finger. Immediately, the moon cleft into two parts standing far from each other for several hours then cling back together. The pagans started claiming: Oh Muhammad (PBUH) practiced witchcraft on us.

At this point some of the wise men explained that magic would only affect the attendees whereas it can not maintain influence on everybody in general. They waited for travelers who were coming back from their journeys. The pagans harried up to the borders of Mecca in anticipation to meet the travelers. When the first arrivals appeared, they asked them did you see anything extraordinary happened to the moon? The travelers answered yes on the night (X) we saw the moon splitting into two parts which remained asunder for sometime then reattached. Upon this statement, a number of the group believed while the rest remained pagans. Therefore, the verse explains "The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). * And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: This is continuous magic. *They belied the Verses of Allah - this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled according to the kind of deeds: good deeds will take their doers to Paradise and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell." (Quran 54:1-3) until the end of the verses which were revealed in this regard.

Dr. Najjar continued that at this point a British Muslim young man introduced himself as Daoud Moussa Peetcock head of the British Islamic Party. He carried on saying sir if you allow me I would like to add on this issue? I said please do. He explained saying: At the time when I was searching in religions (before he embraced Islam), a Muslim student gave me as a present the translation of the meaning of Quran. I thanked him and took it home. The first Surat I came across when I opened the book, it was Chapter of the Moon I read "has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder". I said to myself, is this statement logical? Is it possible for the moon to split and then reattach what kind of power may cause this? The man explained that this verse made me reluctant to continue reading. I became busy with my life, yet ALLAH of course Knows how sincere I was about finding the truth.

So,one day ALLAH made me sit to watch TV. It was a talk show between a British commentator and three American astronautics specialists. The show host was blaming the scientists for spending thriftily over space trips at a time when earth is suffering hunger, poverty, diseases and backwardness. He was telling them, it would have been more feasible to allocate this kind of money for reconstruction of earth. To this argument, the three men answered defending their position that such technology is widely applied in many wakes of life such as medicine, industry and agriculture. They added that the money is never wasted but it rather supported the development of highly advanced technology.

During their dialogue, they mentioned the trip in which a man landed on the moon surface as it consumes the the largest cost which comes to more than US $100.000.000.000. The British TV anchor screamed saying what kind of thrift is this? A hundred thousand million dollars just to plant the American flag on the moon surface? They answered no; the objective was not to plant the American flag but rather to study the interior composition of the moon. We actually came to a finding that would cost us double folds of this amount for people to believe and yet they will never believe. The show host inquired what is this fact? They replied: One day this moon was split and then reattached. The show host again probed: how did you realize that? The scientists responded about finding a belt of transformed rocks cutting the moon from its surface to core and then to the surface again. The stated saying: we consulted with earth scientists and geologists who explained that such phenomenon would never occur unless this moon one day split and then reattached.

The British Muslim man said: I jumped out of my chair saying ALLAH (SWT) forced the Americans to spend more than a hundred billion dollars to prove to Muslims a a miracle that took place 1400 years ago for Mohamed (PBUH)? This religion must be the truth. He added: I went back to the Quran and recited Surat Al Qamar, which was my gate for accepting Islam.

            The Moon SPLIT:

Six of the nine planets have satellites (moons) with the maximum of 12 for Jupiter. Since our moon is the nearest heavenly body let us know an important thing about it in the Qur’anic context. God says at the very first verse of Suratul Qamar (moon) in QURAN :

"The hour drew near and the moon was split."

Even though moon appears smooth and beautiful to the naked eye telescopic photographs tell us its surface is in fact rugged and full of meteoric and volcanic craters of all sizes.

The American Apollo mission of 1967 obtained a couple of remarkable photographs of the hidden side of the moon. They show a strange feature, a 240 km long cleavage 8 km wide. The edges appear to be result of striking with a huge weapon rather than a crack of geological origin. To this day no explanation has been offered. An article appeared in Islamic Voice a decade ago along with the photographs suggesting that the feature is the remnant of splitting of the moon by Prophet (Pbuh).

Authentic hadeeth accounts testify that two years before Hijrat (in 617 CE) in the fullmoon night of Rajab, Abu Jahl et al challenged Prophet (Pbuh) to split the moon in proof of his prophethood. He pointed his finger at the moon and moved it and the moon split in two. It remained so till it set. It was seen in the entire Arab land and elsewhere as far as Syria.

It was also seen by two rulers in India, namely Bhoj of Malwa Kingdom and Zamorin Perumal of Kerala. Both of them investigated the phenomenon and traced it to the promised last ‘avtar’ to be born in Arabia. They identified him with last Messenger (sal), the last prophet of God, got in touch with him and accepted Islam!

Predictably the Meccan challengers rejected the proof they asked for. Continuing with the above verse, Allah says:

"And (even) if they behold a portent (such as this, still) they turn away and say: ‘Prolonged (illusion)!’ (Thus) They denied (the truth)......." ( Qamar: 2,3 ).

Veracity of Shakkul Qamar has been estalblished by authentic hadeeth and God himself has vouched for it in Sura Qamar. Now, verification has arrived through science. Yet, it is painful to note, that a section of muslims preach and write to dismiss one of the greatest of mu’jizas as merely an “illusion due to atmospheric disturbance, even though it persisted for a whole night”. This is precisely as the Meccan mushriks did and exactly as recorded by God in Qur’an. These people should note that their rejection amounts to heresy, imperilling their very Iman . Read again how Allah judges their this action at several instances in Qur’an : “They denied the manifest truth.” In short they must realize that while the Meccan mushriks denied a Prophet, these people of shameful doubt falsify Allah Himself !

Abu Jahl Said: "Let Us Wait Until The People*Of Albadiah Come, And If They Saw The Moon Split, Then It Is True, If*Not, Then We All Know It Was A Trick Of Magic. When The People Of*Albadiah Came They Said That They Saw The Moon Split, And The*Disbelievers Said: "Oh, How Powerful Mohammad's Magic Is"

                Explanation:

What could cause a long indentation on the*Moon? First discovered over 200 years ago with a small telescope,*rilles(rhymes with pills) appear all over the*Moon. Three types of*rilles*are now recognized:*sinuous rilles, which have many meandering curves,*arcuate rilles*which form sweeping arcs, and*straight rilles, like*Ariadaeus Rille*pictured above. Long rilles such as*AriadaeusRille extend for hundreds of kilometers.*Sinuous rilles*are now thought to be remnants of ancient lava flows, but the origins of arcuate and linear rilles are still a*topic of research. The*above linear rille*was photographed by the*Apollo 10 crew*in 1969 during their historic approach to only 14-kilometers above the*lunar surface. Two months later,*Apollo 11, incorporating much knowledge gained fromApollo 10, landed on the Moon.

                    Creation of earth:

                    Ayah (verses)

                    7:54
"Your Guardian-Lord Is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then He established Himself on the Throne (of authority): He draweth the night as a veil O'er the day, each seeking the other in rapid succession: He created the sun, the moon, and the stars, (all) governed by laws under His command. Is it not His to create and to govern? Blessed be Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds !"

                    10:3
"Verily your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then He established Himself on the Throne (of authority), regulating and governing all things. No intercessor (can plead with Him) except after His leave (Hath been obtained). This is Allah your Lord; Him therefore Serve ye: will ye not recieve admonition?"

                    11:7
"He (Allah) it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six days and His Throne was over the waters that He mighty try you, which of you is best in conduct. But if thou wert to say to them, 'ye shall indeed be raised up after death,' the unbelievers would be sure to say, 'this is nothing but obvious sorcery!'"

                    25:59
"He Who created the heavens and the earth and all that is between,in six days, and is firmly established on the Throne (of authority): Allah, Most Gracious: Ask thou, then, about Him of any acquainted (with such things)."

                    32:4
"It is Allah Who has Created the heavens and the earth, and all between them,in six days, then He established Himself on the Throne (of authority); ye have none, besides Him, to protect or intercede (for you): Will ye not then recieve admonition?"

Let us look at Ayat :

                    Verse (41:9-12 (verse 9) Say:
"Is it that ye Deny Him (Allah) Who created the earth in two days? And do ye join equals with Him? He is the Lord of (all) the worlds. He set on the (earth) mountains standing firm, high above it, and bestowed blessings on the earth, and measured therein all things to give them nourishment in due proportion, in four days, in accordance with (the needs of) those who seek (sustenance).

(verse 11)Moreover, He Comprehended in His design the sky, and it had been (as) smoke:He said to it and to the earth: 'Come ye together, Willingly or unwillingly.'They said: 'We do come (together), in willing obedience.'So He completed them as seven firmaments in two days and He assigned to each heaven its duty and command. And We (Allah) adorned the lower heaven with lights, and (provided it) with guard.Such is the Decree of (Him) The Exalted in Might, Full of Knowledge."

There is no contradiction in the Noble Verses above:

In the above Holy Verses(7:54, 10:3, 11:7,32:4, and 25:59) we see that Allah Almighty clearly states that He created the universe in six days.
Holy Verses (41:9-12) describe the primal creation of our physical earth and the physical heavens around us.If we count the two days mentioned in(41:9), the four days, mentioned in (41:10), and the two days mentioned in (41:12), we get a total of eight days. However, the four days in (41:10)include the two days in (41:9), because the processes described in (41:9-10) form one series.IIn the one case it is the creation of the formless matter of the earth; and in the other case it is the gradual evolution of the form of the earth, its mountains and seas, and its animal and vegetable life, with the "nourishment in due proportion, proper to each.

To further understand the complexity of the creation of the earth, let us look at Ayat (verses) 15:19-20 "And the earth We (Allah) have spread out (Like a carpet); set thereon mountains firm and immovable; and produced therein all kinds of things in due balance. And We (Allah) have provided therein means of subsistence- for you and for those for whose sustenance ye are not responsible."
Majesty, order, beauty, and harmony are shown in all Allah's Creation, but especially in the heavens.Coming nearer to man, Allah's care for man and His goodness are shown (besides His other qualities) in His creation of the earth. In highly poetical language, the earth is described as spread out like a carpet, on which the eternal hills act as weights to keep it steady.

Let us also look at Ayah (verse) 13:3
"And it is He (Allah) Who spread out the earth, and set thereon mountains, standing firm, and (flowing) rivers: and fruit of every kind He (Allah) made in pairs, two and two:He draweth the night as a veil O'er the day.Behold, verily in these things are Signs for those who consider!"

                    16:15
"And He (Allah) has set up on the earth mountains standing firm, lest it should shake with you; and rivers and roads; that ye may guide yourselves,"

In Holy Verses (15:19-20, 13:3, and 16:15) we see that Allah Almighty took special care in planet earth to provide all the necessary means for us to be able to survive.
This shows that the four days in (41:10) include the two days in (41:9), because the processes described in (41:9-10) form one series.

Note: (41:9) talks about the creation of earth.(41:10, 13:3, 15:19-20, 13:3, and 16:15) talk about the gradual improvment and gifts from Allah Almighty of earth for us.The creation of earth without its complexity took two days, and the wonderful creations and gifts that Allah Almighty provided for us on earth took another two days.

Surah Al Nahl [ Bees ] , 16..On Bees and Life..

                      On Bees and life......

And thy Lord inspired the bee, saying: Choose thou habitations in the hills and in the trees and in that which they thatch; (68)*Then eat of all fruits, and follow the ways of thy Lord, made smooth (for thee). There cometh forth from their bellies a drink divers of hues, wherein is healing for mankind. Lo! herein is indeed a portent for people who reflect. (69)*

Volumes have been written about the nutritional and medicinal values of honey. These tiny insects are able to extract nectar from flowers and plants everywhere. They group together in intricate and well ordered kingdoms or colonies to produce this unique and fascinating substance which has provided man with nutrition, remedy, and enjoyment throughout ages.

The surah goes on to cite a number of other favors of God to man spanning the length and breadth of his life:*"And Allah createth you, then causeth you to die, and among you is he who is brought back to the most abject stage of life, so that he knoweth nothing after (having had) knowledge. Lo! Allah is Knower, Powerful "(70).

Life itself is a gift bestowed on man to enable him to fulfill his intended mission in this world. In return, man is obliged and expected to show gratitude and appreciation to God Almighty. God has allotted to people varying degree of prosperity and fortune in their lives as a means of testing them, both in time of prosperity and in times of adversity. Will the wealthy be able to conquer their greed and selfishness and look with mercy and compassion towards the deprived, and care for them ?

According to Michael Dillon of the University of Wyoming, who led the study published in the journal Biology Letters, bees deal with the 60% decline in air density by increasing the force produced by their flapping wings by a similar 60%.

                        World Bulletin / News Desk

While scientists are still dumfounded by the flight of the bee, which according to the rules of science should be aerodynamically impossible, scientists will be now even more shocked to learn that bees have enough strength to even fly over Mount Everest, after a species of Chinese bumblebee was found to be capable of flying at air pressure levels equivalent to an altitude of 9,000 metres.

The 8,848 meters high Mount Everest, the largest mountain in the world, is now considered to be no match for bumblebees, which after being tested in a barometric chamber in conditions that would suffocate most animals was seen altering the angle of their wings to increase their amplitude. Oxygen levels were also dropped to that which is typical of mountain ranges, yet this had no affect on the bees.

According to Michael Dillon of the University of Wyoming, who led the study published in the journal Biology Letters, bees deal with the 60% decline in air density by increasing the force produced by their flapping wings by a similar 60%.

“A hovering bumblebee has an oxygen demand that is roughly 15 to 20 times that of an elite athlete, yet in our experiments they are meeting this demand in spite of a greatly reduced supply – the partial pressure of oxygen is less than a third of sea-level values,” he told The Independent.

“There are a few other documented examples of organisms flying over Everest, such as bar-headed geese, and there are many records of insect sightings as high as 5,000 to 6,000 metres in the Himalayas,” Professor Dillon said.

“However, to our knowledge, this is the highest record of an insect flying in reduced barometric pressures, that is, when challenged with both reductions in air density and oxygen,” he added.

1- Do bees really feed off of fruits and sweet things? "all manner of fruit (من كل الثمرات)" also means all sweet-tasting things, for bees pursue all natural-sugar-tasting things, which exist heavily in fruits.Watch this bee eat from the fruit in slow motion, along with other bees eating other fruits. This video also covers the healing and medical benefits of honey, a "healing for men" (فيه شفاء للناس):

2.Do bees really feed off of nector and fruits?

3-Do bees really live in mountains and in trees?

Also, as to honey being is a "healing for men" (فيه شفاء للناس) medicine in Noble Verse 16:69 above, please visit this article:

Honey was proven to be a healing medicine for humans as was mentioned in the Noble Quran.

                          Some of honey's medical benefits:

                          1-it's a natural remedy.

2-It's an antibiotic. It is call*Apitherapy Raw Honey, which includes replenishing energy, enhancing physical stamina, and improving the immune system.

3- It has anti-microbial properties. It forms a hydrogen peroxide effect in wounds and destroys bacteria.

4-in the wound, honey also allows for skin cells to re-grow naturally, and it prevents raised scarring.

5-honey has acidic PH which is inhospitable for bacteria.

6-it also has an Asmonic effect, which draws out fluid from the bacteria.

                          7. Honey also heals burn injuries.

SURAH 16: AL NAHL (The Bees).

In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

(Verses 1 to 74 and onwards)

1."The command of Allah comes: seek not then to hasten it: glory to him, and far is he above having the partners they ascribe to him.

2.He sends down his angels with inspiration by his command, to such of his servants as he pleases. Warn them that there is no god but me: so do your duty to me.

3.He has created the heavens and the earth for just ends: far is he above having the partners they ascribe to him!

4.He has created man from a sperm drop; and behold this same man becomes an open disputer.

5.And cattle he has created for you: from them you derive warmth, and numerous benefits, and of their meat you eat.

6.And you have a sense of pride and beauty in them as you drive them home in the evening, and as you lead them forth to pasture in the morning.

7.And they carry your heavy loads to lands that you could not reach except with souls distressed: for your Lord is indeed most kind, most merciful.

8.And he has created horses, mules, and donkeys, for you to ride and use for show; and he has created things of which you have no knowledge.

9.And to Allah leads straight the way, but there are ways that turn aside: if Allah had willed, he could have guided all of you.

10.It is he who sends down rain from the sky: from it you drink, and out of it grows the vegetation on which you feed your cattle.

11.With it he produces for you corn, olives, date palms, grapes, and every kind of fruit: truly in this is a sign for those who give thought.

12.He has made subject to you the night and the day; the sun and the moon; and the stars are in subjection by his command: truly in this are signs for men who are wise.

13.And the things on this earth which he has multiplied in varying colours: truly in this is a sign for men who celebrate the praises of Allah.

14.It is he who has made the sea subject, that you may eat from it flesh that is fresh and tender, and that you may extract therefrom ornaments to wear; and you see the ships in it that plough the waves, that you may seek the bounty of Allah and that you may be grateful.

                              15.And he has set up on the earth mountains standing firm, lest it should shake with you; and rivers and roads; that you may guide yourself;

16.And marks and sign posts; and by the stars men guide themselves.

17.Is then he who creates like one that creates not? Will you not receive admonition?

18.If you would count up the favours of Allah, never would you be able to number them: for Allah is oft-forgiving, most merciful.

19.And Allah knows what you conceal, and what you reveal.

20.Those whom they invoke besides Allah create nothing and are themselves created,

21.Dead, lifeless: nor do they know when they will be raised up.

22.Your God is one God: as to those who believe not in the hereafter, their hearts refuse to know, and they are arrogant.

23.Undoubtedly Allah knows what they conceal, and what they reveal: truly he loves not the arrogant.

24.When it is said to them, What is it that your Lord has revealed? They say, Tales of the ancients!

25.Let them bear, on the day of judgment, their own burdens in full, and also the burdens of those without knowledge, whom they misled. Alas, how grievous the burdens they will bear.

26.Those before them did also plot: but Allah took their structures from their foundations, and the roof fell down on them from above; and the wrath seized them from directions they did not perceive.

27.Then, on the day of judgment, he will cover them with shame, and say: where are my partners concerning whom you used to dispute? Those endued with knowledge will say: this day, indeed, are the unbelievers covered with shame and misery,

                              28.Those whose lives the angels take in a state of wrongdoing to their own souls. Then would they offer submission, we did no evil. No, but truly Allah knows all that you did;

29.So enter the gates of hell, to dwell in it. Thus evil indeed is the abode of the arrogant.

30.To the righteous it is said, What is it that your Lord has revealed? They say, all that is good. To those who do good, there is good in this world, and the home of the hereafter is even better and excellent indeed is the home of the righteous,

31.Gardens of eternity which they will enter: beneath them flow rivers: they will have there all that they wish: thus Allah rewards the righteous,

32.Those whose lives the angels take in a state of purity, saying, "Peace be on you; enter you the garden, because of what you did."

33.Do they wait until the angels come to them, or there comes the command of your Lord? So did those who went before them. But Allah wronged them not: no, they wronged their own souls.

34.But the evil results of their deeds overtook them, and that very thing at which they had scoffed hemmed them in.

35.The worshippers of false gods say: "If Allah had so willed, we should not have worshipped any but him -- neither we nor our fathers -- nor should we have prescribed prohibitions other than his." So did those who went before them. But what is the mission of messengers but to preach the clear message?

36.For we assuredly sent among every people a messenger, "Serve Allah, and hate evil": of the people were some whom Allah guided, and some on whom error inevitably came. So travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who denied.

37.If you are anxious for their guidance, yet Allah guides not such as he leaves to stray, and there is none to help them.

38.They swear their strongest oaths by Allah, that Allah will not raise up those who die: no, but it is a promise on him in truth: but most among mankind do not realize

39.That he may manifest to them the truth of that wherein they differ, and that the rejecters of truth may realize that they were indeed in error.

40.For to anything which we have willed, we but say the word, be, and it is.

41.To those who leave their homes in the cause of Allah, after suffering oppression, we will assuredly give a goodly home in this world; but truly the reward of the hereafter will be greater. If they only realize.

42.They are those who persevere in patience, and put their trust on their Lord.

43.And before you also the messengers we sent were but men, to whom we granted inspiration: if you realize this not, ask of those who possess the message.

44.We sent them with clear signs and scriptures and we have sent down to you the message; that you may explain clearly to men what is sent for them, and that they may give thought.

45.Do then those who devise evil feel secure that Allah will not cause the earth to swallow them up, or that the wrath will not seize them from directions they little perceive?

46.Or that he may not call them to account in the midst of their goings to and fro, without a chance of their frustrating him?

47.Or that he may not call them to account by a process of slow wastage, for your Lord is indeed full of kindness and mercy.

48.Do they not look at Allah's creation, among things, how their shadows turn round, from the right and the left, prostrating themselves to Allah, and that in the humblest manner?

49.And all that is in the heavens and on earth bows down to Allah, whether moving creatures or the angels: for none are arrogant.

50.They all revere their Lord, high above them, and they do all that they are commanded.

51.Allah has said: take not two gods: for he is just one God: then fear me.

52.To him belongs whatever is in the heavens and on earth, and to him is duty due always: then will you fear other than Allah?

                              53.And you have no good thing but is from Allah: and moreover, when you are touched by distress, to him you cry with groans;

54.Yet, when he removes the distress from you, behold some of you turn to other gods to join with their Lord

55.To show their ingratitude for the favours we have bestowed on them then enjoy; but soon will you know.

56.And they assign, to things they do not know, a portion out of that which we have bestowed for their sustenance by Allah, you shall certainly be called to account for your false inventions.

57.And they assign daughters for Allah. Glory be to him and for themselves they desire.

58.When news is brought to one of them, of a female born, his face darkens, and he is filled with inward grief.

59.With shame does he hide himself from his people, because of the bad news he has had shall he retain it on contempt, or bury it in the dust? Ah what an evil they decide on!

60.To those who believe not in the hereafter, applies the comparison of evil: to Allah applies the highest comparison: for he is the exalted in power, full of wisdom.

61.If Allah were to punish men for their wrong doing, he would not leave, on the earth, a single living creature: but he gives them respite for a stated term: when their term expires, they would not be able to delay for a single hour, just as they would not be able to anticipate it.

62.They attribute to Allah what they hate, and their tongues assert the falsehood that all good things are for themselves: without doubt for them is the fire, and they will be the first to be hastened on into it.

63.By Allah, we sent to peoples before you; but Satan made their own acts seem alluring: he is also their patron today, but they shall have a most grievous penalty.

64.And we sent down Al-Kitab to you for the express purpose, that you should make clear to them those things in which they differ, and that it should be a guide and a mercy to those who believe.

65.And Allah sends down rain from the skies, and gives therewith life to the earth after its death: truly in this is a sign for those who listen.

66.And truly in cattle will you find an instructive sign. From what is within their bodies, between excretions and blood, we produce, for your drink, milk, pure and agreeable to those who drink it.

67.And from the fruit of the date palm and the vine, you get out wholesome drink and food: behold, in this also is a sign for those who are wise.

                              68.And your Lord taught the bee to build its cells in hills, on trees, and in habitations;

69.Then to eat of all the produce, and find with skill the spacious paths of its Lord: there issues from within their bodies a drink of varying colours, wherein is healing for men: truly in this is a sign for those who give thought.

70.It is Allah who creates you and takes your souls at death; and of you there are some who are sent back to a feeble age, so that they know nothing after having known: for Allah is all-knowing, all powerful.

71.Allah has bestowed his gifts of sustenance more freely on some of you than on others: those more favoured are not going to throw back their gifts to those whom their right hands possess, so as to be equal in that respect. Will they then deny the favours of Allah?

72.And Allah has made for you mates of your own nature, and made for you, out of them, sons and daughters and grand children, and provided for you sustenance of the best: will they then believe in vain things, and be ungrateful for Allah's favours?

73.And worship others than Allah, such as have no power of providing them, for sustenance, with anything in heavens or earth, and cannot possibly have such power?

74.Invent not comparisons for Allah: for Allah knows, and you know not."

                              Continue...long surah...

                                Fetal stages described in quran.

One of the sciences that is given attention in the Quran is embryology and specifically the development of the embryo/fetus inside the mother's womb. Much of the detailed information given in the Quran would not be discovered until long after the revelation of the Quran. Numerous scientists have written about this amazing scientific content of the Quran, one of which is Keith L. Moore, Ph.D., F.I.A.C, at the Department of Anatomy, University of Toronto, Canada.

The following are extracts from 'The developing Human' by the author:

Statements referring to human reproduction and development are scattered throughout the Qur'an. It is only recently that the scientific meaning of some of these verses has been appreciated fully. The long delay in interpreting these verses correctly resulted mainly from inaccurate translations and commentaries and from a lack of awareness of scientific knowledge.

"He creates you in your mothers bellies in stages,*creation after creation, in three veils of darkness."*39:6

We do not know when it was realized that human beings underwent development in the uterus (womb), but the first known illustration of a fetus in the uterus was drawn by Leonardo da Vinci in the 15th century. In the 2nd century A.D., Galen described the placenta and fetal membranes in his book "On The Formation of the Foetus." Consequently, doctors in the 7th century A.D. likely knew that the human embryo developed in the uterus. It is unlikely that they knew that it developed in stages, even though Aristotle had described the stages of development of the chick embryo in the 4th century B.C. The realization that the human embryo develops in stages was not discussed and illustrated until the 15th century.

After the microscope was discovered in the 17th century by Leeuwenhoek descriptions were made of the early stages of the chick embryo. The staging of human embryos was not described until the 20th century. Streeter (1941) developed the first system of staging which has now been replaced by a more accurate system proposed by O'Rahilly (1972).

"The three veils of darkness"*may refer to: (l) the anterior abdominal wall; (2) the uterine wall; and (3) the amniochorionic membrane. Although there are other interpretations of this statement, the one presented here seems the most logical from an embryological point of view.

Drawing of a sagittal section of a female's abdomen and pelvis showing a fetus in utero. The "veils of darkness" are: (1) the anterior abdominal wall; (2) the uterine wall, and (3) the amniochorionic membrane.

"Then We placed him as a 'notfah' (tiny drop) in a*'qarar makeen' (well protected place of rest)."*23:13

The drop or nutfah has been interpreted as the sperm or spermatozoon, but a more meaningful interpretation would be the zygote which divides to form a blastocyst which is implanted in the uterus ("a place of rest"). This interpretation is supported by another verse in the Qur'an which states that "a human being is created from a mixed drop." The zygote forms by the union of a mixture of the sperm and the ovum ("The mixed drop").

"Then We made the drop into a 'alaqah' (leech-like structure)."*23:14

The word "alaqah" refers to something that clings (like a leech or bloodsucker). This is an appropriate description of the human embryo from days 7-24 when it clings to the endometrium of the uterus, in the same way that a leech clings to the skin. Just as the leech derives blood from the host, the human embryo derives blood from the decidua or pregnant endometrium. It is remarkable how much the embryo of 23-24 days resembles a leech (Fig. 2). As there were no microscopes or lenses available in the 7th century, doctors would not have known that the human embryo had this leech-like appearance. In the early part of the fourth week, the embryo is just visible to the unaided eye because it is smaller than a kernel of wheat.

"Then of that leech-like structure, We made a*'mudghah' (chewed-shaped lump)."*23:14

This statement is also from 23:14. The Arabic word "mudghah" means "chewed substance or chewed lump." Toward the end of the fourth week, the human embryo looks somewhat like a chewed lump of flesh (Fig. 3). The chewed appearance results from the somites which resemble teeth marks. The somites represent the beginnings or primordia of the vertebrae.

"Then We made out of the chewed lump, bones,*and clothed the bones in flesh."*23:14

This continuation of 23:14 indicates that out of the chewed lump stage, bones and muscles form. This is in accordance with embryological development. First the bones form as cartilage models and then the muscles (flesh) develop around them from the somatic mesoderm.

"Then We developed out of it another creature."*23:14

These next words in 23:14 implies that the bones and muscles result in the formation of another creature. This may refer to the human-like embryo that forms by the end of the eighth week. At this stage it has distinctive human characteristics and possesses the primordia of all the internal and external organs and parts. After the eighth week, the human embryo is called a fetus. This may be the new creature to which the verse refers.

"And He gave you hearing and sight and*feeling and understanding."*32:9

These words in 32:9 indicates that the special senses of hearing, seeing, and feeling develop in this order, which is true. The primordia of the internal ears appear before the beginning of the eyes, and the brain (the site of understanding) differentiates last.

"And We cause whom We will to rest in the*wombs for an appointed term."*22:5

These words in 22:5 seem to imply that God determines which embryos will remain in the uterus until full term. It is well known that many embryos abort during the first month of development, and that only about 30% of zygotes that form, develop into fetuses that survive until birth. This verse has also been interpreted to mean that God determines whether the embryo will develop into a boy or girl.

The interpretation of the verses in the Qur'an referring to human development would not have been possible in the 7th century A.D. or even a hundred years ago. We can interpret them now because the science of modern Embryology affords us new understanding. Undoubtedly there are other verses in the Qur'an related to human development that will be understood in the future as our knowledge increases.

And when it is said to them (hypocrites): "Believe as the people (followers of Muhammad Peace be upon him , Al-Ansar and Al-Muhajirun) have believed," they say: "Shall we believe as the fools have believed?" Verily, they are the fools, but they know not."(2.13)
