  • Mohammad-Ibni-Zakriya-Al-Razi: The Muslim Philosopher and Scientist

Al-Razi was an extremely able person with a lot of contribution to medicine. What interests one is his thoughts about metaphysics/religion.
    He says,

"If the people of this religion are asked about the proof for the soundness of their religion, they flare up, get angry and spill the blood of whoever confronts them with this question. They forbid rational speculation, and strive to kill their adversaries. This is why truth became thoroughly silenced and concealed."

    and,

"considering the many disagreements between different religions, that "there would be a universal disaster and they would perish in the mutual hostilities and fighting. Indeed, many people have perished in this way, as we can see."

Over here, we are not taught about his religious beliefs or lack thereof. We're told about his advancements in the field of medicine and how they are all related in a strange way to the glory and truth of Islam.

From only his works, it appears he was no normal man. He lived and taught like his Greek predecessors. I deliberately use the word 'predecessor' because that's how I see it.

    Thank you for sharing this.

It is exactly because men like al-Razi are not tolerated here and would be "cut into pieces" according to a fellow forum-member that we are so backward - socially and otherwise.

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".

"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".
