Praying on Mars

can't they grow some plants on mars and come back after a hundred years? that place would be lush green.......and plus they would put some insects there, do u think it would be possible to live there and develop network between earth?

Would be cold for the earth plants, and immagine the light will be also different for te ditance! Also the athmosphere may be quiet different?!

true, but i think they should give it a try....they should put some insects and reptiles and see if they can survive (by inserting a chip in their bodies for monitoring).

Sure they do breath, any animal breathes.
The plants would be for sure the first alterantive, but its again t cold for them.
The water should be at least liquid and accesible to the roots to grow, but I frear its frozen and deep to be usable for growth!

Reptiles are on th other hand dependent on the temperature more than mamals, fo that in northern places reptiles are rare.
so the first to think about would be bacteria and algae...

Now martian year is abour 670 earth days long on average and martian day is equal to 24 hours and 40 minutes, which is almost the same as on earth. Mars has two moons. So how would a muslim fast? How long wil ramadan be? What is a martian month? Which of the two moons will be used to site the month of ramadhan and eid siting? recall scholars saying ramadan and eid time depends on moon siting.

First they might establish a penal colony in Mars like they dis in Australia. When travelling is possible marginalized / harassed people would immigrate like they did to America. They would have to have a strong military base to protect Mars from attacks from other planets. Wild imagination resulting from watching Star Trek, etc.

Once a man called the sheikh and asked , ya sheikh how can one pray on the moon...the sheikh astonished about the question waited a littel and answered my son when you reach the moon then call me maybe then i can answer your question.

And brother Haris im saying this to you now,when you reach mars call me maybe then we have a compromise how to pray on other planets.

Not really looking for a textbook Islamic answer per se (otherwise I would have posted it in the Religion section). Just an excercise of thought, something interesting to think about.

Forgive me if this goes against the Islamic tradition (I am not very educated on the subject though I am learing more everyday) but if on Mars, as someone already said, I would pray in any direction.

Mars can't have an athmosphere, its can't sustain it. Becuase Mars magnetic field is really weak almost nont excisting, so the athmosphere would be destroyed by the sun. Our earths athmospere is protected by the magnetic field, that why we still have it, so when one day our magnetic field will becomes weak or disapears like that of Mars we gona die :P.

And by the why when you are on mars I guess you must pray towards the earth becuase thats where the Mekka is .......
