  • People with genetic disorders must not have children.

    A moral question here.

Let's say there are two married adults.
The man suffers from cystic fibrosis and haemophillia while the woman has down's syndrome.

There is a significant chance (for example 50%) that their future child will also have one or more of the above diseases. This child will suffer much physical and mental pain throughout its life and it will also carry a genetic disease which could pass on to future generations.

These parents live as happily as they can despite the restrictions their disease puts on them.

They really want to have a child of their own so adoption is out of the question.

Should they be sterilised/forced not to have children for the future child's sake? OR should they be allowed to make that decision for themselves as that is their right?

To advise others is an easy matter, the difficulty is accepting advice -- since it is bitter for those who follow their
    own inclinations and desires
