  • Help me! [Homework problem]

Compare your answer to the Earth-Sun distance.
Express your answer using two significant figures.

I solved the first two instantly but the 3rd one, hmm, I don't quite get the question.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Bro, I think you just take your answer for the D{Betelgeuse} and divide it by the distance from the Earth to the Sun which is like 149,597,871 km. It should be like 5.75, right?

Yeah, you could be right, but I was looking at it like the radius of the Earth's orbit around the Sun, which is like the distance from the Earth to the Sun. I could be wrong so if you have any ideas feel free to share.

Radius of sun minus the radius of earth or Radius of sun minus diameter of earth. Its a confusing question. I think GPG is right about radius of it but its looks mind eating.
I know in Physics when they give a value like r with subscript, for example, A-B, they are asking the radius distance from A to B.

Are you familiar with Astronomy? I might have a few more questions.

Well, my major was Chemical Physics so there was a small bit of overlap but not enough that would make me confident enough to say that I would be the most reliable help.

If you do post any questions on astronomy, I'll be more than happy to offer my approach to solving them (if they make sense to me!).

By the way, did the last question work out okay?

I am pretty decent, but if it gets deep into like pure Math and stuff then I might get stumped.
