Wow! Thanks, Jasmine, for posting this! It's greatly appreciated, khorey!

In some time, ka khairee, 2 other females on this forum (Dukemina and Mesbah) and I are going to officially announce to everyone that we'll help PF'ers with their papers and whatnot, so long as they are not last-minute and we're given at least 3 days to work on them, to help them succeed in writing better. We're still discussing it amongst ourselves to make sure our process and method are faultless, and we have a great means to make it happen. So then we can help our folks better implement the tips you've explained above!

    Thanks again, girl!

I LOVE essays! I know, that sounds weird. But no, once you master the techniques of good essay writing, you love it. I discovered my love for writing in grade ten in highschool when I picked up English Literature as a subject for the following year. I did my assignments so passionately, my friends would laugh. I have kept those two files (year 11 and 12 Literature) till this very day. And, (not to sounds too boastful), I received two top student awards for that subject (and many others) those two years. And so choosing Journalism was something that came from that. The first day at uni, and my Professor says: Let me inform you that professional and creative writing AND journalism are complete opposites. And then and there, I felt I melted.

And for the thread: Love how it starts off with the word gotten. SO American! There are very basic steps to follow, and when you do, you will find you often overwrite because you're covering everything by following that structure. I will explain, somewhere down the track, InshaAllah.

Qrratu, week nine into the semester, it is SO busy ...

Zanjeer: Just the way others love their calculators and equations. Not that I don't of course. But you see, when you can easily score 85-100 in essays, and it is your strong point, you will love it. Getting full marks in something is motivating, no? My friends often hand over essays (completed and often just the question) to proof-read or do for them. And I do. You can always hand one over =)

            What's your strength?

LOL! TELLLLLLLLL me about it! Last semester, I wrote a 20-page paper, and my professor goes, "Very nice, but ... this style is journalistic; I want a scholarly paper." I had to change it alllllllllll the way! It was a headache, I swear. I have the same professor for another class this semester, and I show him my paper every 3 pages or so, just to make sure it's "appropriate" for an academic paper! (This one, too, has to be 20 pages long!)

hahaha ... that's right. This is our finals week; I'm leaving town on Saturday, so I've to get my exams and all papers (two 7-pg essays, one 20-pg paper!) before that! I'm purposely here just to avoid doing that :D I need a break every couple of hours, apparently :S

                  Good luck with yours!

                    I hate essays. Time consuming
Depends entirely on your passions. I love all types of writing, including short stories, essays, and huge papers. (I love writing long papers, but only if they are on topics that I'm crazy about -- this is why most of mine often have to do with religion, women, and/or Pashtuns.) They can be time-consuming, yes, but for those who love to write, their time couldn't be used in a more productive way :D Me, when I write, I burn... I mean, really burn on the inside. All the anger, all the passion, all the excitement, all the happiness, all the fear, all the pain -- all of every possible feeling inside me, a mixture of them all, is right there at their peaks when I write. I used to think this was just a temporary phase in my life, but fortunately, it's been the case for the last 6 years, and I hope and pray the passion never dies out because the feeling is SO good, SO satisfying that I could live it all my life and know that I'm happy. But, again, this is possible for me ONLY when I'm writing on topics I love. If it's on something else, I can't stand it... or if I'm TOLD to write it. Well, no, wait ... even if I'm TOLD what to write, I love breaking rules, so I'll find a way to find a nexus between my own passions and what I'm supposed to do So, most times, when professors assign a paper, I'll personally go to her/him (they all know Qrratugai is crazy, so they are never surprised, lol), and say, "Okay, here's the thing ..." and they are totally cool with it :D

If you express enough interest in the topics you choose to write on, it's worth EVERYTHING, and then it doesn't matter what grade you get on it; all that matters is that you enjoyed your time with it, learning while reading for it and writing it.

So... what's so good about writing essays, you ask? For people who love to write, the answer is ... EVERYTHING :D What's "not" so good about it? :D
