  • 155 Afghans will be sent to Kazakhistan for Higher Education

KABUL: As many as 155 students, who got high marks in last year's entry test, would leave for Kazakhstan for higher education on September 28, an acting minister said Sunday.
During the first of their four-year stay in Kazakhstan, the students would learn Kazakh language before being divided into different groups, the acting higher education minister told journalists.
Muhammad Sarwar Danish said the students would be sent to Kazakhstan based on last year's agreement, under which the Kazakh government agreed to provide 1,000 scholarships for Afghan students over the next 10 years.
The students would study social sciences, attend teacher training, border police, medical, engineering, law and economics institutes and their expenses would be paid by the Kazakh government, he said.
Also present at the news conference, Kazakh Ambassador to Afghanistan Agybay Smagulov expressed pleasure over the dispatch of Afghan students to his country. He promised Kazakhstan would continue to support Afghanistan's sector of education.
The students, who will go to Kazakhstan, are happy over the opportunity to continue higher education abroad. A first year student of the Journalism Faculty at Kabul University, Sahila, said the process of selection for scholarships was transparent. "I would like to study in the faculty of medicine in Kazakhstan."
Ahmad Mujtaba, a resident of central Panjsher province, said: "I will try to my best to exploit the opportunity to bring home laurels."
Currently, there are 4,000 Afghan students studying in 27 foreign countries, said Higher Education Ministry spokesman, Muhamamd Azim Noorbakhsh. About 2,000 of them have gone abroad at their personal expense.
Some 600 teachers and professors had also been sent to foreign countries to achieve masters and doctorates, he informed.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Interestingly, I used to teach a Kazakh woman English. She was, second interesting point, ex-KGB and married to an Afghan.

Her degrees certificates were in Russian and the were printed in a book form, if I remember right.

I would say Turkey, Egypt, India, Malaysia would be much better choice..not just cuz they have better institution no, these countries have institutions that recognized internationally and could therefore help these students get access to European institutions much quicker.
