Life is easier than you would think; all that is necessary is to accept the impossible, do without the indispensable and bear the intolerable... (easy to quote, difficult to follow)

Beautiful thought, and how would I say that in Pashto?

We humans are not perfect, we all make mistakes, only Allah is perfect. I know someone who is very unforgiving, if someone wrongs him, he refuses to forgive and begin new. I have tried to tell him that this is not the way of Allah.

But he refuses to listen. This is making my Ramadan hard this year. Out Beloved Prophet (PBUH) said "Allah is merciful to those who show mercy to others."

He also said, "Power consists not in being able to strike another, but in being able to control oneself when angry."

Sometimes I am sad, that many Muslims do not follow the Prophet (PBUH) as a guide who leads the way in which we should walk.

In Christian circles there is a phrase, "Sunday Christian", I wonder if this exists in Islam as well. Many people who are brought up as Muslims, and yet rarely pray, and when they do pray seem to get little joy from it. I do not understand this. I love Allah, if I did not have my faith I would be dead, life would hold nothing dear for me.

Maybe my sentiments are strong now, because Allah is testing me, and it is a hard test-to live or perish forever.

                  Rabia

Rabia.... i too sometimes wonder abt these unforgiving people.....when Allah has said ask for forgiveness and i will forgive then why such people try to be God????

the muslims who dont follow islam well are the ones who take their being muslims by chance for granted... may Allah show them the right path....

and when do we know that our namaz is accepted by Alllah? its then when we heartedly get ready for the next namaz....

ur sentiments are strong Rabia khorey..... Allah tests the ones who are dear to Allah....u are chosen by Allah.....the lucky one.....and a strong woman too.. If Allah has got u to it Allah will get u through it......

Today's Message of the Day is:

Life is short, Break the rules, Forgive quickly, Kiss slowly, Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably, And never regret anything that made you smile..

My sister just sent me this...I think it fits well here too! Maybe this is what Allah wants for me today, just to be able to relax a little, not to hurt so much?

                        Don't give up, Rabia !

Remember the obstacles faced by Rabia al-Adawiya, for whom you surely are named!
There is a Rabia Balkhi too, as I recall.

The former Rabia's purported footprint is in al-Qods. At least it's claimed to be hers, though of course, who knows?
It's in the Chapel of the Ascension, if you ever make a pilgrimage to the holy places there.

I never forget that footprint, kindly shown to me by the Arab guardian of the chapel, who said only her name and pointed. I knew who he meant and put my foot in it.

                        Yes, I'm superstitious like crazy!

But remember the terrifying tests given to that Rabia and it will give you strength to combat the unpleasantness by means of virtuous words from the heart.

Yes, I was named after Rabia al-Adawiya. The quote from her that I identify with the most is: "If I worship Allah because I am afraid of hell, then cast me into hell. If I worship Allah because I am looking forward to heaven, then ban me from heaven. But if I worship Allah because I love to be in Allah's presence, then let me always stay there."

Allah is my first love, and truly the only reliable love. Sometimes when I look at my parents I think they are lucky. They have always been best friends, they married at the age of 18 and 19. They have been married longer than many people even live, and they are still best friends. then I remember Allah, and know that Allah loves me, and has always been with me. This helps a little.
                          .
Thank you for your words. I take you in my dua today

                            Thank you !

Was the name your choice ?

You sound very serious, which is wonderful.

There was an American, Debra Denker, who took that name too. She wrote a kind of weird book about Afghanistan, "Sisters on the Bridge of Fire".
I never could quite get through it, though there may be some insights into Afghanistan during the war with the Soviets.

It was reprinted after the American invasion. I think they needn't have bothered.
But I'm mentioning just in case you are told about her.

I looked her up on the internet when I had picked up the book a few months ago when I found it in a box in my basement.

Unfortunately - from my personal outlook - she is now a "healer" and hypnotherapist or something along that line in the Southwest, though originally from LA area.

You, on the contrary, sound very determined.
More like the great Rabia. Mashallah !

Tell us more about you whenever you feel like it. Were you from a Catholic or Protestant background?
That's remarkable about your parents. What a rarity especially in America today !
A great example to grow up with.
