For some reasons I remembered this while reading your post:

Afghan Pashtuns also have tremendous influence of non Pashtuns as many of them prefer Dari to Pashto. Pakistani Pashtuns at least do not like to speak Punjabi. Punjabis are more than 50% in Pakistan but Pashtuns do maintain their cultural dominance. However Pashto language has lost writing and reading in Pakistan.

Afghan Pashtuns are also the slaves of Islamism while settled Pashtuns in Pakistan are more educated and modern.

Many Afghan PAshtun prefer PAshtu and will speak PAshtu every time. We have not lost any pashtun culture be it in language or tradition. Pashtu in Pakistan is horrible and sounds more like mix between Urdu and English than Pashtu at all.

I agree with Badlun, you'll find a large Afghan Pashtuns who have zero knowledge of Pashto, because it's not fashionable to speak it. Mainly people speak Pashto if they're from a Pashto speaking area

Pakistani Pashtuns, while they do speak kind of a "blend" at least speak some form of Pashto. Although the case where there are Pashtuns stuns that prefer Urdu to Pashto exists there too. Just not to the same degree as it is in Afghanistan with Dari

Malala looks as much Pashtun as any other Pashtun. I can't see any different between her and any other general population of Pashtuns. People just have pain in their back door, because she achieved a nobel price and now it is shown that she got straight A's, while you guys are some random janitors in Europe and USA. Perhaps instead of mud casting her, because of your own inferiority complex, then be wiser and appreciate that she is one of the few Pashtuns who have achieved something great in recent history.

Any of you self proclaimed Pashtuns who think she doesn't look Pashtun, I dare you to post a picture of yourself and let the rest of us know whether you look like your white master or not.

Pashtuns don't look all the same, and don't have a particular appearance that verifies them. Pashtuns as any other ethnicity comes in all forms and shape. Malala looks like any other typical Pashtana and I see nothing in particular that indicates that she have any other ethnicity. You guys really need to stop google searching Pashtun pictures. It is like someone generalizing and says that everyone in India looks like Salman khan and Kajol, or everyone in Britain looks like David Beckham.

I have been all over Europe and I haven't found a particular way the population look in those different countries. The exact same concept is true regarding Pashtuns or other ethnicities. If people wore the exact same thing, I can guarantee you that no one would be able to find out which ethnicity they belonged to just by look.
Don't quote me or speak to me if you hate Afghanistan, you be ignored.

People with identity crisis will be ignored as well.

Pakistani Pashtuns just mix few words like theek, acha bhai and use Urdu numbers. I never saw any Pakistani Pashtun who prefers Urdu to Pashto like Afghans do with complete replacement of Pashto with Dari. Yes few tribes like Nyazi speal Seraiki.

If all Pashtuns become like DSM then revolution is not far. What a realistic and balanced approach.

Show any normal person not from the region a picture of Malala they will say she looks Indian, show them a picture of an Afghan they will say they look Persian or Arab.

I strongly doubt FATA Pashtuns would have that much South Asian Influence. However if they have that much then KP ones would atleast have that much. Though if you are Pashtun no matter how you look of you have ghairat I count you as a true Pashtun.

Though I count the Quetta Pakhtuns as the same as Afghan Pashtuns.
Turis and Jajis are not true Pashtuns, they have indic roots. Their permenant houses were near Nilab on the river indus. They used to migrate annaully during the summer to Kurram valley, remained there as vassals of Bangashs. They subsequently got involved in a fight with Bangash over the elopment of a Turi woman with a Bangash. As a result they expelled some of the neighbouring Bangash clans and got settled there permenantly.
I would be absent for some time, when i return , i would explain this history in detail. In the meanwhile 'akhtar mu mubarak sha'

Thanks for the info but if they follow Pashtunaali and have ghairat can't they be classified as real Pashtun?

I was told the Jaji are an ancient settlement in Paktia; the Bangash are a more recent settlement; are you sure it's not the other way around? The information I was given suggests Bangash stems from a Qizilbash Patriarch that dwelt among some Kurram Valley Pashtuns and converted them to Shi'ism.

How are you going to say zazis are not Pashtuns? Just because Khushal is one and your trying to get on his bad side? That's just insulting, and Zazis are native to Pakita and eastern afg in general, i am pretty sure they are Pashtuns. Can't speak for the Turis but i heard the Bangash are rumored to be of Arab origin, of course i don't believe this since there is no proof o this.

You are sure about Jajis but not about Turis, why?. Both are cousin tribes and claim common descent.
tilla_jogian can you post those harappa studies about samples from kurram?

The purpose is not to annoy khushal or belittle him. I promised him that i would share the material about some studies which indicate that his Jaji tribe and Turi tribes are of non-Pashtun origin. He got offended it seems, as when i got permanently banned , he claimed on a thread that i run away because of him. He thought i made up some stuff to insult him, thats not the case, some studies and works do exist which indicate that Jajis and their cousin Turis are of non-Pashtun origin and are not true Karlanries.

                              ..........................................

The Turis, or Torizais as they are sometimes called, are a tribe of whose origin little definite is known, but all authorities are agreed that if Afghans at all they are not Afghans of pure descent. Lumsden says they are of Mughal extraction ; Ibbetson regards them as being probably Tartar tribes which accompanied Chengis Khan and Timur in their Indian raids ; Bonarjee calls them a tribe of mixed blood — Indian stock with a Tartar admixture ; while Edwardes and others say that they are a Hindki race, some sixty families of whom, about four or five hundred years ago, because of drought, migrated from their native country in the Punjab (opposite Nilab on the Indus in the Kohat district).to the Kurram Valley, or, as it was then called, the Bangash Valley, and became hamsayas of its inhabitants. They themselves support this last tradition, but say that the ancestor who originally settled at Nilab was one Torghani Turk, who came from Persia. In his diary of the year 1506 the Emperor Baber mentions the presence of Turis in the Kurram Valley. About the year 1700, owing to a quarrel arising out of insults offered to Turi women, the Turis and Jajis, who were then united, attacked the Bangash, and the Turis gradually made themselves masters of the Kurram Valley, the Bangash remaining on in their turn as hamsayas. [1]

In 1702 A.D. the Turis and Jajis, tribes of Awan origin, whose permanent homes were near Nilab on the Indus, and who migrated annually during the summer to the Kurram valley, remained there as vassals of Bangashs. They subsequently got involved in a fight with Bangash over the elopement of a Turi woman with a Bangash. As a result they expelled some of the neighboring Bangash clans and got settled there permanently. [2]

Formerly, the Kurram valley was possessed by the Bungashes, and divided into Upper and Lower Bungash, the latter including all the Bungash lands of Kohat. The Turis at that time were a wandering tribe, having their chief seat at Nilab, on the Indus, but roaming with their flocks over all the country between that place and Caubul. According to the Bungash accounts, the Turis established themselves in Kurram about four generations ago. The Bungashes had rebelled against the king of Caubul; a force was sent against them, and a fine imposed as a penalty for their misconduct. This fine the Turis engaged to pay if the Bungashes would cede certain lands to them. In an evil hour the Bungashes consented; and from that time, by one pretext or another, the Turis have obtained complete ascendancy in the valley, and reduced the Bungashes to the condition of Fakeers. [3]

Turis themselves claim descent from one Toghani Turk who came from Persia and settled at Nilab in the Punjab. [4]

The Turi/and Jaji/themselves state that their common ancestor, Toghani Turk, had migrated from Persia to Nilab, while another tradition names Samarkand as the dwelling place of their forefather. [5]

Moreover the most authentic book on Pashtun tribes, Makhzan-i-Afghani written in 1629 AD, do not mention Turis and Jajis any where as Pashtun tribes. They are not mentioned at all.
