  • President of San Jose State University is Afghan

Mohammad Humayon Qayoumi (born December 14, 1952)[1][2] is an engineer and professor who was appointed president of San Jose State University on March 23, 2011.[3] Previously he has served since 2006 as the fourth president of California State University, East Bay. He has worked in university administration for more than 30 years and has a background in both engineering and business. Qayoumi was born in Afghanistan and is the first person of Afghan descent to head a major U.S. university.[4

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Waiting for someone to come by with a post saying "while this is a landmark accomplishment by an 1st gen Afghan immigrant, don't forget that Canada has socialized health care."

Sometimes I wonder what such individuals would have done and achieved for Afghanistan if they were not so scattered all over the globe instead. Or whether they are capable of achieving so much only because of the better circumstances they were provided with. Pity.
I bet his career would have been whole lot more rewarding if he could provide his services in Afghanistan instead.
