Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

I have a question/s!!!!..how easy is it to brainwash prospective students with these sort of list that gets posted on the internet...well say for a High School Senior ...what does this list portray? Aren't these list more of a grad School type and that they get their rank based on some "unseen" survey/endorsement....!!!!.....except for UC-/LA/BERKLEY...i never saw any public institution on the top ten list..... I was always curious :P..any insight!!!!

Well for starters, the acceptance rate is only 30.2 %. It WAS almost considered an ivy due to the education. And my major is marketing which is in the NYU stern school buissnes with an acceptance rate 19 %. So I'm going to have to study my ass off.

hmmm...I got accepted to NYU but i declined :D why!!!...my cousin(valedictorian) was also accepted and she did attend NYU...and oh well I guess she well lived the "ivy league" fantasia...and now has one mountain of loan!! ! perhaps she will pay it of soon
I chose a public university and I am happy and my school is also known as a "public ivy league" ;-)..if that's the magic word...and it beats the hell out of most ivy league/s when it comes to my "major"... we are ranked high :D..not discouraging you...well if you are into ivy/s then why not go for a real IVY..i betcha u'll make it

oh btw you said STERN!!!! are you going for ur grad studies..perhaps its a decent choice then..the aforementioned insight is applicable for undergraduate studies

I dont get these rankings etc.

I attended the 3rd best university in Chemical Engineering in Germany.
Attending classes and tutorials is all fine.

But hadn´t I done some extra effort, I wouldn´t have been anywhere.

                          What I mean is:

Even if you attend a lousy uni but read the right books and understand them, you can be very good in your field.
                          The only constant is change.

Yea ur right about the loans. And I don't want to go there because it a wannabe ivy lol, it's just close to my home, and my fam from NYC want me to study in the states and nyu offers pretty good education considering its a private uni. (Not that public school doesn't offer bad education because it doesn't).i just heard its a good school.
