In societies where co-ed is the norm e.g. the UK, on average, girls-only schools produce higher results in 'traditionally male' areas e.g. Physics and Maths, than their co-ed high school equivalents, because these girls are not having to compete in mixed gender classes. This means they stand a better chance at taking these subjects at university level.

      I hate co education.
I believe boys would do well without mixing with girls, because in the UK all they they do is go after girls.

Yet the UK produces so many people with PhDs every year....

Anyway, I believe in gender equality - that is to say that women are just as smart as men (if not smarter lol). Besides, resource-starving countries can do well with combined schools instead of having primary school children segregated...

I think segregation is a barbaric practice of the ancient world. It still exists in our rural areas but we see that educated people (generally) don't mind coeducation.

And please don't say that single-sex educational institutions or gender segregation, etc are part of Pashtun culture because they're not! It's something that was practiced in pre-Renaissance Europe, pre-Abbassid Arabia, etc and it's something that's still encouraged in Saudi Arabia (peace be upon it).

In fact, all the ghastly crimes men commit against women in rural areas would end once they see in their schools with their own eyes that women can actually be smarter than them. Women will cease to be seen as objects with the power of their own merit.

I dunno.... I think coeducation is a win-win prospect... unless you believe a rain of molten rocks will destroy your village as a result...

Edit: Just got this little piece of info - the Great Satan (USA) produced 43,354 Ph.D.s and Ed.D.s in 2004-5. They're probably more than the total number of Ph.D.s in Pakistan and Afghanistan combined. They achieved this feat despite their men having to look at cleavage and other parts of the female anatomy (that apparently make the mullahs puke) since the ages of 12 until 28.

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be".

"Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives".

          I see.
What about you, bro? Do you go to an all-males school, wherever you live? If not, mind explaining to us what your reasons are?

LOL! Yara kho, Heathen :p MUST you always speak up so openly? Bless your mind and fingers, man.

And you forgot something -- homosexuality in gender-segregated environments, or at least in societies where the two genders are forbidden from talking to or seeing each other.

Has he? I didn't see them. All he said is that he hates co-ed schools and said why. He didn't say if HE goes to a co-ed school or not, and that's what I wanna know. (In another thread, he mentioned he lives in the UK, so that's why I'm even more interested in how he is in practice and not just in theory and beliefs.)

                      Well, my complete post was:

And it means that the more you deny men to see women and vice versa, the more they're going to use each other (people of the same gender) to fulfill their (intimate) desires.

For instance, most (Muslim) parents allow their daughters to bring females but not males to their house and take then into their rooms. Many of these girls don't long for men, then; they start longing for their female friends instead, with whom they're allowed to do ANYTHING because there's hardly any supervision when girls are together. It's simply expected that they won't do anything because too many people find it "unnatural" for males to be attracted to males and females to females.

Homosexuality in the Muslim world is currently on the rise, and as much as some of us like to say it's western influence, the fact is that it's only becoming more conspicuous now, what with all the fights for justice and all; it was always there, and we have numerous historical accounts of its practice. Much is being written on it today than ever before, so do look into it when you get some time. I can recommend some erudite articles if you're interested. There's a film called "A Jihad for Love" as well. It's not for everyone's eyes and minds, though, because it might be too realistic for some to handle.

                          Bacha-razi = homosexuality?

As for the question, can you try to find the answer in my other posts? It'll save me a ton of time, which I don't have much of at the moment, you see, khorey.
