as salaamu aleikoum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
Most of us have relatives back home who are young and might be studying or willing to study and become educated. Yet we do not have the money or resources to finance the education of our fellow countrymen.
What we can do, is the following: There are numerous torrent websites and other types of file sharing websites filled with academic books and literature in digital formats. And plus, there are thousands of lectures about different subjects on those websites.
Aside from that, many universities offer free courses plus some free material on youtube and on their websites such as Yale Universities Open Courses.
I figured, since we are all using the internet all the time, why not download all the stuff that is there up for graps and save them in our hard drives. And when we get the chance, transfer it to our relatives back home.
Now obviously not everyone owns a computer or broadband internet connection there. But if we could organize a print shop somewhere back home near a university where there is a huge expensive xeros machine and a computer with a few dozens of TB of memory filled with books and stuff, students could go to this print shop and ask for books of their interests and have them printed at low costs. Or have lectures burned in cd's for them.
What do you say? Could this work?
