The best schools in Afghanistan are Turkish led. They are usually called "Afghanturk leysa".
Even Adobe Photoshop can't change me.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

Nightshift University entry test scheduled on 25th Aug

      Nightshift University entry
      test scheduled on 25th Aug

KABUL: Officials in the Ministry of Higher Education (MoH) said on Monday
that some 7,900 students were registered to participate in nightshift
      university entrance exam.

Speaking at the press conference, Barai Sediqi, Deputy Minister of Higher
Education, said that the registration process of the participants has been
completed and the entrance exam has been scheduled on 25th of this
month. It is expected that some 7,900 students will take part in the
entrance examination process out of which 1,700 will be selected by an
open and transparent process. The test has been scheduled for Kabul
University and the University of Education—considered being the top public
sector universities in the country. It is pertinent to mention that only 900
female candidates are appearing in the test.

The authority said the nightshift exam is the first university entrance exam
in the country while the general entrance examination process would be
held in coming months in other parts of the country. This year some
160,000 students are expected to participate in examination process while
out of this number some 35,000 will be enrolled in universities and the
remaining participants would be enrolled in semi higher education
institutions according to an agreement which has already been signed
between MoH, Ministry of Education (MoE) and Ministry of Public health
(MoPH). He said that this year they have planned to launch the
examination process in all 34 provinces of the country if they found the
transportation, security and climate situations in their favor.

He added that MoH have planned to distribute the guidance books for the
students. The guidance books include hundreds of the exam questions of
the previous years’ process. The guidance chapters would familiarize the
students with examination procedures and the question types

        Foreign Scholarships Procedure Finalized

        Foreign Scholarships
        Procedure Finalized

KABUL: The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) made the declaration that
the procedure of scholarships for higher education has been finalized and
some 423 students will leave Kabul for India and Turkey for continuing their
        higher education soon.

Some 250 of aforementioned scholarship is for under graduates, 180 for
master and the rest for PhD degrees, which totally coast $ 5m and funded
by the government budget, said Barai Sediqi, deputy of MoHE.

Addressing a press conference, he stated that 119 students will depart to
India on scholarship and over 300 other students to Turkey. Efforts are
under way on 1500 other general scholarships for bachelor degree, which
granted by Turkey, India, Kazakhstan, Russia and Pakistan and will be
finalized in near future, he added.

Qualified students selected via exam transparently from capital and
provinces. Examination was held in eight zones of the country in which
some 10,000 students were registered, but out of the mentioned number
6,000 had participated the examination and some 1,324 had been passed
the exam and find the opportunity to continue their higher education in
        abroad.

The nominated students will receive higher education in different fields
such engineering, economy, computer science, agriculture and law, the
fields which are necessary for Afghanistan markets and development
process. Some 250 other teachers are on scholarship for PhD degrees in
different foreign countries as well, he added.

Sending of students and teachers on scholarship deems as positive step
toward enrichment of education method in Afghanistan’s Universities and
MoHE will not spare any efforts to boost and implement the process of
granted scholarships transparently across the country. Mr. Sediqi while
informing of expanding of universities to the provinces said that besides
extending of high education facilities, the ministry strives hard to improve
lessons’ quality throughout the country as well. He also hinted to
establishing of an especial board, which will assess and monitor the
governmental and private universities and higher education institutes
regularly and adding that this board will deal legally with the violator
        intuitions.

It’s worth to be mentioned that MHE claimed that the scholarship is
granting through transparent process for eligible students without
considering any tribal, language and son significant, but students often
complained of lack of transparent process in procedure of scholarships and
they believe the scholarships’ dividing between ministers, deputies,
members of parliament and other influential figures.

I think it was basically saying the courses/programs the private institutions were offering which the KU was not offering (or are not in line with what the KU is doing) are to be closed. I don't know what the specific programs are however.

If possible could you elaborate on the private institutions?
I don't know much about their situation in Afghanistan.

Some in the business/commerce sectors are asking for those closed instutions to be re-opened..

Closed Private schools must be reopened: ACCI

KABUL: Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) asked the reopening
of the private schools banned by the Ministry of Education (MoE) last week charged
                  with providing sub-standard education services.

Deputy of ACCI, Khan Jan Alikozai suggested that it would be better if the matter
                  should be coordinated with ACCI.

Member of the executive board of ACCI, Aazarakhsh Hafezi asking the MoE to support
the private schools as under the constitution’s article 10, 11 and 13 regarding private
                  education sector.

Meanwhile, education ministry has said that they have closed the low quality schools
while the good ones’ were appreciated.

Deputy Minister for MoE last week in his press conference has said that most of the
classes of the closed schools were taught by the 12th grade with poor knowledge.

It is worth of mentioning that there are around 250,000 students learning in private
                  schools taught by 15,000 instructors.

KABUL: Citizens of Kabul appreciated the recent step of the Ministry of Education
(MoE) in which the ministry has banned some 10 schools which were not implementing
the rules and regularities of MoE.

Since last few months MoE had launched an evaluative process in which the ministry
has assessed some 67 private schools in Kabul city out of which 10 of them were
found irresponsible in providing quality education, not implementing the rules and
regulations of the MoE, imposing of high fees, and other likewise failures which in
result the offenders were terminated and their licenses were invalidated by the
ministry. Out of the assessed schools some 17 of them were warned in same time 14
of them were notified to improve their education quality and 11 schools were
pecuniary fined. But a good number of them were appreciated for providing high
                      quality lessons for their students.

“My two children had followed their lessons for six months in a private school located
near by our house, but during the six months they had not learnt even one page of
the books so I decided to pull them back and later enroll in a public school where they
had studies their lessons for two years”, said Gholam Qudous Asghar resident of
Kotisangi area of the city. He alleged that the administrative board was repeatedly
notified but nothing happened towards bringing quality education in their school. He
welcomes the recent step of the MoE and stressed that if the MoE seriously follows
this procedure for a long time it will oblige all the private schools to work for providing
                      quality educations for their students.

Rahim Sultani, student of a private higher education institute in the city said to the
AT; some of the private schools just work to channel money to their pockets not to
provide proper educational system to the students. He stressing this group of the
schools don’t comply the rules and regulations of the MoE because receiving of money
from the children is the first criterion for them not quality educations.

This was the first ever that the Ministry of Education makes such efforts to inspect all
the private schools in the country because the private sector is still fledgling one and
has no longtime background in providing educations in the country. For the first ever
private education system was introduced around eight or nine years ago in the
country when the current rule came to power.

But owners of the closed schools claim that their schools were providing quality
educations and are not agree with the MoE on completely banning of their activities.

Muqbel Hossini, in charge of the Tamadon private school says the major problem that
obliges them to impose high fees to students is paying of high tax to the government.

It is to be mention that currently some 531 private schools are active throughout the
country, mostly in urban areas, out of which some 251 have been providing
educations in Kabul city. According to the reports, some 160,000 students have been
learning lessons in private schools that institutes 2pc of the all the students being
learnt in all public and private schools throughout the country.

Masses appreciate MoE action against de-graded schools

MoE struggles to raise literacy rate

KABUL: The Ministry of Education (MoE) in a joint venture with its partner donors’
agencies has planned to provide basic education to almost 0.6m Afghans countrywide
mainly focusing on illiterate females this year, officials said on Sunday.

Amanullah Iman, the spokesperson of MoE, while talking to Afghanistan Times revealed
that the ministry has taken the initiative to equip the Afghan people with at least
basic education in all the 34 provinces of the country where 65% of the total
population remains illiterate including a high percentage of female illiteracy.

He explained that more than 26,000 mobile literacy centers along with 89 permanent
literacy schools are running across the country, where 600,000 Afghans are getting
education in which 63% comprises of female students. The program has also provided
job opportunities to over 4,000 professional teachers, he added.

“The MoE literacy campaign’s focus will be extended to the rough terrain and insecure
districts having high percentage of illiteracy. In order to achieve this goal, national
and international donor agencies must come forward to partner with the ministry”, he
                            demanded.

He highlighted that enrolment level gradually raised in ‘literacy training courses’ adding
last year some 500,000 people joined the literacy training centers however this figure
exceed to 600,000 at the current year, which demonstrates a remarkable increase.

Mr. Iman pointed out that MoE will exert utmost efforts to accelerate literacy training
facilities and educate over one million illiterate people throughout the country in the
next two year. Moreover, for the last eight years, MoE had shown tremendous
success and grant 2.5m people with literacy training opportunity and succeeded to
increase literacy figure up to 35% across the country.

It is worth to mention that due to snarling-spate of insecurity over 4m children are
deprived of education facilities in remote and insecure districts.
