For centuries Hindu pilgrims have donated their hair in a ritual of purification. Today this hair has become a precious commodity and an extraordinary economic resource. Hair India follows the journey of human hair from the holy temples of Southern India to the production lines of Europe and on to high class beauty salons around the world.

What documentaries would you suggest about Afghanistan or Pashtuns?

‪PBS - FRONTLINE "Behind Taliban Lines" Part 1 of 4‬‏ - YouTube

One of the best documentaries out there. It explains the obvious- that Afghans will never tolerate a foreign occupation, and the reason why the people fight.

This gives an accurate portrayal of the general Afghan perspective that has existed throughout history.

All parts can be found using youtube.

I have seen that one already, it is excellent but I would have liked to see longer interviews with the muj. There is a section where they are having their hair and beards trimmed during the first half of the documentary, is there a religious significance to this for fighters taking up jihad?

I like Rio Breaks, it's about two young surfers living in the slums of Rio de Janeiro.

Highly recommended: Travels with a Tangerine sometimes seen on BBC or Knowledge Network. British writer based out of Yemen retraces the steps of Ibn Battuta.
