1,200 Teachers Get Pay Raise in Kandahar

KANDAHAR CITY - Salaries of hundreds of teachers in southern Kandahar province have been increased from 3,500 Afghanis ($77.39) to 14,800 Afs a month, officials said on Saturday. The pay raise for 1,200 teachers, who had passed a skill evaluation test, was announced at a ceremony held at the Governor’s House in Kandahar City. The ceremony was also attended by Governor Toryalai Wesa and school principals and teachers in the provincial capital and districts. Wesa hailed the education ministry for increasing the salaries, hoping the move would inspire educated people into joining the profession. The successful teachers would be paid between 6,500 and 14,800 Afghanis in monthly pay, Director of Education Najibullah Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News. Hinting at expanding the project, he asked the Ministry of Education in Kabul to send a delegation to Kandahar to examine more teachers. The pay raise would help improve education standards on the one hand and address teachers’ financial problems on the other, hoped Azizi, a teacher at Zarghona Ana School. Bismillah Khan, a teacher at Zahir Shahi School, said the province was faced with an acute shortage of trained educators. Due to low salaries, he added, many qualified teachers had joined foreign NGOs. (Pajhwok)

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

^ Not only that, it gives more career opportunities for women.

In Kabul, majority actually nearly all of school teachers are women. This gives them a chance to become educated, make something out of themselves, have a salary of their own in aiding with their family, and giving them a little bit of independence.

so this qandahar place must be pretty large in the map to have 1200 teachers. interesting..

I am no bird, and no nest ensnares me.

non commercial would cost less if he was in charge himself which he plans on doing. right now it's n herat but soon it will be in qanadahar.

the karzais should sell some of their homes in dubai so they can triple their current raise.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.
