KABUL (PAN): About 9,400 students, 34 percent of them girls, took part in fifth and final round of a university entry test in Kabul on Saturday, education officials said.
The test was simultaneously held at Kabul University and Education, Polytechnic and Medical Faculties, Deputy Higher Education Minister Prof. M. Osman Babori said.
"Although some questions were a bit hard, I am happy with the test," Samiullah, a 12th grade graduate from Qabulbai High School, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
But Abdullah, a candidate from central Logar province, complained most of the questions were beyond comprehension.
Although the deputy minister insisted steps had been taken to prevent fraud, Abdullah alleged: "The wealthy people who give thousands of dollars in bribe, will easily find their way to the university."
The participants included those who graduated from high schools and religious and technical institutes, said officials at the higher education ministry.
According to Babori, more than 60,000 high school and madrasa graduates would get admissions to universities and semi-higher education institutes this year.
More than 130,000 students, including 25 percent girls, appeared in entry tests this year, the official said. Some 25,000 students would be enrolled in state-run universities and 35,000 in private semi-higher education institutes, he said.
Of the 90,000 students who participated in last year's entry test, 45,000 were admitted to universities and high education institutes.
