  • College Course Suggestions

So how about we give some course suggestions to our fellow college students.

    I have two good suggestions

    1) Cultural Anthropology was such a fun class. Literally i always felt eager to come to every lecture. It wasnt a hard class at all, there were a lot of essay writing, but it wasnt bad at all. I loved learning about new cultures and traditions. At the end of our class session, we had a cultural day. I brought in Kabuli rice and mantu. And i gotta tell you, everyone was trying to get third servings. I gave a small presentation. I spoke a sentence in Pashto and Dari. Students actually liked the sound of Pashto I also brought in my Afghan dress, jewelry, and plenty of pictures.

    2) Zoology was a blast. Though it is a very hard class and lab, for some it may not be worth taking it since it falls under the Biology major.....but i gotta say it was quite fun. We did a dissection two times a week....anything from sharks, frogs, pigs, rats, rabbits, cats, fish, pigeons, etc. It was hard, i am not going to lie.....it was purely memorization of every single thing. But well worth it if you are a more hands on kind of person.

So i need some suggestions for classes. I really want to take World Women's Studies, World Religions, and Early Childhood Development (for fun).Has anyone taken these courses, any advice?

Yes, definitely CSU and UC. It falls under Social Sciences and/or Art and Humanities

It fulfills both those required semester/quarter units

For CSU it fulfills the General Education Breadth Requirements
For UC it fulfills Social Sciences requirements

I took an ethics course once and it was a pretty easy, manageable one. There was a considerable amount of reading but it was interesting material and it would stick with you. I'd recommend it to anyone who is interested in this kind of stuff. However, if you are an unethical individual, you may have a tough time at first.

if you want an easy class, just take statistics 101 or astronomy.

I like astronomy a lot because all i did was sit back on the chairs in the planetarium and stare at the fake stars.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!
