When my grandfather died, i didnt cry at all. And i was very close to him too. It was hard to cry when tears would not come down. Then finally, on the day of the funeral during the prayers, i cried and cried because hearing the words from the Quran finally made it real.
Mir Mahsud, it is very normal to not get emotional. Some (men and women) just do not have that emotion to give. Others, just do not feel the reality of it, until possibly the burial takes place.
I do hope all is well with you, and that you are granted sabr.

delayed reactions are common, at least they are for me.There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Why crying?
Why being selfish?
The ones who are one step closer than us to eternity and god should be remembered. The best moments, the nicest times with them.
When I remember my grandfather, even when he cursed me out makes me smile in retrospective, let the good and funny times aside.....
I am happy that I had the pleasure to have met, sat and talked with him.
I will tell my kids alot about my grandfather because he is partially responsible for who I am.The only constant is change.

most people that dont cry or have no emotional reaction to such news are actually in denial of it and have a hard time to get themselves to beleive in it. It is better and healthier to talk about it and let the emotions come out in front of people you feel comfotable with that share the same feelings.Last edited by khushal; 02-24-2012, 02:46 PM.

Nope.Originally posted by mir mahsud View PostIs it normal not to feel any emotions what so ever when a loved one is near death? or has died?
There are hadiths which prohibits lamenting and wailing and tells us that the dead will be tormented in their graves as a result of their relatives crying over their death.
But it's perfectly normal to have emotions, especially when it's one of your relatives.
If you don't feel any emotions, there might be two causes :
- your imaan (faith) is very strong and you really do believe in the hereafter
- you hate this person (perhaps subconsciously)

The crying is for that they have lost the person in their life. They cry for the loss not that they dont beleive in the hereafter.Originally posted by Al Hanif View PostNope.

I doubt anyone really hates their grandparents or parents. No matter what they have done, they still took care of them when they were little and vulnerable.
If they hate their parents or grandparents, they really hate themselves.
