I instinctively feel that the herb CUMIN is also as good
for the same purpose.
Of course, Cayenne and Garlic too -
If don't have the Oil, use a lot in cooking, or boil
and drink the tea from. Very yummy, especially
in hot weather, surprisingly tasty
Can freeze in refrigerator as cold drink
infinitely better than sugar-chemical-laced sodas, or
caffeine-laden coffee or colas

Coriander oil can tackle harmful bacteria

Researchers from the University of Beira Interior in Portugal have found that coriander oil can be used as a toxic to a wide range of harmful bacteria.
The study showed that coriander oil has an antibacterial effect that can prevent food-borne illnesses and even treat antibiotic-resistant infections, Science Daily reported.
The tests conducted by researchers confirmed that coriander oil can affect 12 types of bacterial strains as they all showed reduced growth and were mostly killed by solutions containing 1.6% or less coriander oil.
"The results indicate that coriander oil damages the membrane surrounding the bacterial cell,” said leader of the study Dr. Fernanda Domingues.
“This disrupts the barrier between the cell and its environment and inhibits essential processes including respiration, which ultimately leads to death of the bacterial cell."
Coriander oil is produced from the seeds of coriander, an aromatic plant which is widely used in Mediterranean cuisine and has been known for its vast health benefits over the centuries.
While many individuals deal with food-borne illnesses in developed countries each year, the new study can motivate people to use coriander oil as a food additive and prevent bacterial spoilage, said Dr. Domingues.
"Coriander oil could also become a natural alternative to common antibiotics. We envisage the use of coriander in clinical drugs in the form of lotions, mouth rinses and even pills; to fight multidrug-resistant bacterial infections that otherwise could not be treated,” he explained
for the same purpose.
