Mujahid wants to become a cardiothoracic surgeon
When Mujahid Khan moved to Glasgow from Pakistan as an 11-year-old in 2011 he dreamed of becoming a doctor.
This week the Holyrood pupil's dream moved a step closer to becoming a reality after he achieved six As and a C in his Highers.
And Mujahid, who was the first person from the south side school to sit seven Highers in one year, earned the stunning results despite English being his third language.
But the modest 17-year-old insists he couldn't have achieved the results without the support of his family, classmates and teachers.
Mujahid, who grew up speaking Pashto and Urdu, said: "I was in the car with my dad when I received a text. I opened it and it was my results.
"It started with a C in English, but thankfully the rest were all As.

"My family are really happy, but to be honest, I'm a bit gutted about my C in English.
"My dad, Said, has been really supportive and without the help from my family, classmates and teachers I wouldn't have been able to achieve those results.
"I really want to thank them for their everything. I hope everyone sitting exams got the results they wanted."
Mujahid, who achieved seven straight As in his National 5 exams last year, wants to become a cardiothoracic surgeon. However, he will be returning to school for sixth year when he plans to study at least three Advanced Highers.
He added: "I didn't study as hard as I did for my National 5s as I did for my highers.
"My older brother Qaisar is studying medicine at Aberdeen so I'd like to follow in his footsteps.
"I will also be applying to Oxford or Cambridge."

1. This article highlights the achievements of this young Muslim Pakhtoon.
2. Amidst all the black propaganda against Pashtuns and vilification of them e.g. as "terrorists", "Taliban" by Punjabis, Pakistani nationalists etc.
As a member of an ethnicity heavily derided by racist Punjabi Pakistanis I know how Pashtuns feel when they are insulted by Punjabis as "bewqoof Pathan" (stupid Pathan).
I see how Karachi is insulted by the Punjabi Pakistani nationalists here for his Mohajir/Indian background.
So it's good to read an article like this.
