Egypt flays Pakistan’s intervention in Bangladesh’s internal issues

Pakistan cannot intervene in Bangladesh’s domestic issues, says the Egyptian Ambassador in Dhaka Mahmoud Ezzat.






“Egypt will be the first country to say ‘no’, if Pakistan intervenes in Bangladesh’s domestic issue,” he said, when journalists sought his comment on Bangladesh’s war crimes trial on Wednesday.

The ambassador, who is also the dean of diplomatic corps in Dhaka, hosted a ‘tea party’ at his office for the new executives of the Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association, Bangladesh (DCAB).

Pakistan has been criticising the ongoing war crimes trial as those who are being tried collaborated with them in the 1971.

Bangladesh won independence after the nine-month bloody war.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court upheld the death sentence of Jamaat-e-Islami chief Motiur Rahman Nizami who orchestrated the massacre of Bangladesh’s best brains in 1971 using his ruthless Al-Badr militia.

Egypt from the beginning has been supporting the war crimes trial.

The ambassador said Cairo “cannot comment on internal issues” of a country.

“We always support Bangladesh,” he said, mentioning that Cairo established diplomatic ties with Bangladesh soon after its independence.

Bangladesh being an independent country has its own right to take its own decision and maintain independence, the ambassador said.

He said Bangladesh has its own right to protect it from any kind of intervention from any countries including Pakistan.

*Most people on this forum do not understand how international politics works.

Politicians are often not very nice people and are dirty, quite brutal but in diplomacy everything is phrased elegantly.

Egypt has basically told Pakistan to F*** OFF.

This is in contrast to Pakistan which always whines about war criminals being executed and passes parliamentary resolutions in national parliament, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa parliament, Punjab parliament etc to support these war criminals.

Also in contrast to Pakistani/Jamaati ally Turkey which supports war criminals in Bangladesh and always interferes in Bangladeshi internal affairs by statements of support for war criminals.

Turkey however did not utter any condemnation of Nimr being executed in Saudi or hundreds of Pakistanis being executed in the past year.

Pakistani exploitation of the Muslim card, failing.

Pakistani (Punjabi) nationalists have been very successful at exploiting the Muslim card for their own cynical self interest and usually very shamelessley.


1. 1947-71 united Pakistan.

They told majority Bengali Muslims to endure the injustice of discrimination for the sake of Muslim Brotherhood. Yes, they were telling the majority population this!

Anyone who wanted rights for the majority Bengalis were called a traitor.

The ruling party in Bangladesh even dropped the term "Muslim" from its name due to this.

The Awami League was originally called the "Awami Muslim League", but due to constant cynical exploitation of concepts of Muslim Brotherhood to legitimize discrimination against majority Bengalis, the founder called for the term "Muslim" to be dropped.

The founder was Maulana Bhashani, a Deobandi cleric who had even been put to prison by the British for his support for the Ottoman Caliphate.

Bashani is the father of Bangladesh and the greatest Bengali of all time.



2. During the war Pakistani soldiers were told they were being sent to a land of Hindus to fight against Hinduism.

One Pashtun unit from Waziristan the Tochi Scouts were told this but refused to kill fellow Muslims in east Pakistan when they heard the adhan (call to prayer).

3. After independence, Pakistanis and Jamaatis tried hard to stop the recognition of an independent Bangladesh, they even told Arab states in the gulf that Bangladesh was now ruled by Hindus and mosques were being burnt. Blatant lies.

Mujib himself was a Muslim nationalist who had clashed with Hindus during his student days to create Pakistan.

Mujib's parents were pious Muslims and Mujib is the man who gave land to Tableeghi Jamaat for their annual 3-5 million gathering in Bangladesh.

4. Modern era

Now the Pakistani-Jamaati terror nexus is saying that:

a: Bangladesh is an Indian puppet state.

Nonsense!

Bangladesh's biggest arms supplier is China and there are some minor problems between India and Bangladesh today.

Bangladesh bans Bollywood films.

Bangladesh bans Hindi dubbed Japanese cartoon.

Bangladesh bans Indian film songs as mobile phone ringtones.


When the Pakistani-Jamaati terrorist nexus says that Bangladesh is an Indian "puppet state" what they mean is Bangladesh and India are trying to co-operate whereas the Pakistani-Jamaati terrorist nexus believe Bangladesh must hate India and fight (politically) it.

Anything else is being a "puppet".

In the Pakistan-wala mind, every Bangladeshi "must" love Pakistan (akin to a German Nazi saying every Jew must love Germany) and hate India.



b. They are also saying that Bangladesh's campaign against Jamaat is a campaign against Islam.

Thus they call Jamaati political leaders as "Muslim scholars", even though Qauder Molla and others were not Imams or religious scholars.

The fact is Islam in Bangladesh is perfectly fine and better than in Turkey where atheism is increasing and pornography is widespread and in some companies people are not allowed to fast in Ramadan, due to the Islamophobic nature of the secular republican elite in Turkey.

For decades the Pakistani/Punjabi elite has found exploiting Muslim sentiment and rhetoric very expedient. It has been very effective. It has won them support in bullying Bangladesh, billions of dollars from Gulf Arabs, a narcotizing effect on disaffected non-Punjabi minorities and so forth.

So the use of Islam is very prominent in Pakistani nationalist rhetoric including anything related to Bangladesh. As most "Islamists" are simpletons and go ga-ga as soon as anything is claimed to be "Islamic" they swallow this uncritically and passionately.

What Pakistani nationalists and Arab/Turkish and other "Islamists" do not address is this:

i: Why did the Pakistani army massacre and rape an unarmed civilian Muslim population in 1971?

ii: Why was a Pakistani Muslim politician who fought hard for the creation of Pakistan stopped from taking office though most Pakistani Muslims voted for him?

That Pakistani Muslim was Mujib who was a Pakistani and a Muslim.

iii: Doesn't Islam say you must seek forgiveness for those you have wronged? Otherwise Allah will not forgive you. So shouldn't the Pakistani army apologize for its war crimes, Islamically speaking?





Significance of Egypt supporting Bangladesh


Egypt supporting Bangladesh is a major national event in our history.


1. Egypt is the biggest state in the Arab world. Arabs are the original people of Islam.


2. Egypt is a powerful Muslim state with a very powerful military e.g. it has 4,600 tanks roughly compared to Pakistan's 2,900.


Egypt is a powerful country with strong self-respect seeing itself as the successor to world famous Pharaonic civilizations and also too powerful to be dictated to by gulf Arabs e.g. Egypt supports Syria and Russia despite getting billions from the gulf Arabs.


3. It also shows the Pakistani-Jamaati nexus that there is a limit how far they can go - in the information age - in trying to use Islam in their propaganda and to promote their own self-interests.


With Bangladesh's economic and military power increasing, Pakistan will be less and less able to incite other Muslim countries to harass and target Bangladesh. The only notable exception at the moment is the Erdogan regime in Turkey but even this regime is facing severe internal and external problems at the moment.

Sheikh Hasina is a charishmatic leader: Outgoing Egyptian Ambassador



Outgoing Egyptian Ambassador to Bangladesh Mahmud Ezzat described Sheikh Hasina as a "charismatic leader," saying that the people of Bangladesh have unwavering confidence and trust in her.

The ambassador came up with the appreciation when he paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her Jatiya Sangsad office here on Monday morning.

After the meeting, PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters.

The ambassador highly praised Bangladesh's stunning success in the socioeconomic development, saying that the country has been emerging as an Asian tiger due to this uplift.

"Bangladesh has been emerging as an Asian tiger due to its impressive socioeconomic uplift under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Egypt is looking forward to learn from Bangladesh's experiences," he said.

Pointing out Bangladesh's achievement of 7.05 percent GDP growth, the ambassador described it as a "remarkable success".

Describing the Bangladeshi people as "peace-loving", the ambassador said he was highly impressed with Bangladesh's natural beauty.

Mahmud Ezzat also lauded "social tolerance" of the people of Bangladesh.

The ambassador thanked the Prime Minister for sending condolence message to the Egyptian president after the recent crash of an Egypt Air flight in the Mediterranean.

Sheikh Hasina highlighted the successes and achievements of her government in various socioeconomic fields over the last seven and a half years of her government in strengthening and consolidating the democratic process of the country, improving the quality of lives of people through her policy of inclusive growth and sustainable development.

The Prime Minister stated her government's firm commitment, continued and relentless work aimed at ensuring a better living standard of the people of Bangladesh through implementation of various development programmes to make Bangladesh a hunger and poverty free, technology-driven, peaceful, and prosperous modern country of the 21st century.

Mentioning the atrocities and mayhem unleashed by the BNP-Jamaat nexus to foil the last January 5 election, Sheikh Hasina said that through this misdeeds, the clique tried to foil the democratic process.

Citing the recent secret killings in the country, the Premier hoped that her government would be able to overcome the situation taking with the people as they (people) are the main strength.

The Prime Minister also highlighted her government's various achievements in different sectors including rendering healthcare services at rural level and ensuring food security.

In this connection, Sheikh Hasina said that when she was in the opposition, she outlined this economic plan under which the countrywide infrastructural projects are being implemented.

Pointing out the historic ties between Bangladesh and Egypt, the Prime Minister said that this relationship was founded during the tenure of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

She also recalled the visit of Bangabandhu to Egypt after the independence.

Sheikh Hasina thanked the Egyptian ambassador for extending his cooperation to the government during his tenure as he also worked as the dean of the diplomatic corps.
