China doesn’t defend Pakistan on terrorism

    Saibal Dasgupta,TNN | Feb 4, 2015, 03.38 AM IST

Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei avoided a direct answer.

BEIJING: For possibly the first time ever, China did not try to defend Pakistan against accusations of sheltering, financing or supporting terrorism.

Asked by a Wall Street Journal reporter here on Tuesday whether Russia-India-China resolution supporting a United Nations convention on comprehensive ban as well as action against countries to which terror is sourced would affect Pakistan, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei avoided a direct answer, waffling instead about how China always works in favour of world peace.

China's refusal to defend Pakistan in the face of the direct question marks a departure from the past. On similar occasions, the Chinese foreign ministry has contended that Pakistan is at the "forefront of the battle against terrorism" and a "major victim of terrorism".

China and Russia had earlier accepted India's request for a resolution on Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism in the United Nations. Minister of external affairs Sushma Swaraj said at a trilateral meeting of Russia, India, China (RIC) that the purpose of the UN convention would be to punish those who support terrorism and not just its actors.

India has often complained that Pakistan shelters those who financed and encouraged terror attacks in Mumbai and other Indian cities.

"We're willing to carry out cooperation with the international community under principles of UN charter and other basic norms governing international relations to safeguard peace, stability and security of the whole world," Hong said.

China's acceptance of the Indian proposal at RIC caused some surprises because it does not usually accept any move that could prove to be hazardous to Pakistan, a close ally.

China is also worried about reports that US president Barack Obama might meet Tibetan leader Dalai Lama at a "prayer breakfast" on February 5. China does not want the meeting to take place. It also reminded Washington of its commitment that Tibet was an integral part of China, and it would not encourage any separatist move.

Asked for his reaction, Hong said, "We hope the American government will act on the basis of its commitment on the Tibetan issue, and properly deal with the situation in the overall interest of bilateral relations with China."

China News: For possibly the first time ever, China did not try to defend Pakistan against accusations of sheltering, financing or supporting terrorism.

    - China is sending a message to Pakistan that it is not happy with its involvement in terrorism.

Pakistan needs to fix up or it will be in even greater problems than it is now.

    - China, India, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh all need to work together and co-operate against Pakistan's sponsorship of terrorism.

The following article is from a Pakistani newspaper which says that China is backing a resolution "heavily biased" against Pakistan.

China, Russia back India on UN terror resolution targeting Pakistan

Source: Tribune Published in World on Wednesday, February 04, 2015

NEW DELHI: China and Russia decided on Monday to back the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT) — a resolution supported by India and heavily biased against Pakistan.

At a meeting of Russia-India-China (RIC) in Beijing, Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said her counterparts from the two countries understood the need for endorsing the resolution that has been pending at the UN for nearly two decades and seeks to widen the existing definition of terrorism.

The CCIT was proposed by India in 1996 in lieu of Pakistan allegedly backing Kashmiri separatists.

In Tuesday’s meeting, the RIC communiqué vouched to oppose terrorism of all forms and called all countries to join efforts in combating terrorism together with the United Nations.

Speaking at a press conference after the RIC meeting, Swaraj told reporters: “Our discussions on terrorism brought consensus on two issues. Firstly, there can be no ideological, religious, political, racial or any other justification for the acts of terrorism and secondly the need to bring to justice perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these acts of terror.”

Swaraj added that the ministers emphasized the need to step up information gathering and sharing and prevent the use of the Internet and other information and communication technologies (ICTs) for the purposes of recruitment and incitement to commit terrorist acts.

The Pakistani paper does not specifiy how exactly this anti-terrorism resolution is "heavily biased" against Pakistan.

Also if Pakistan is not sponsoring terrorism, why should it fear this resolution?

A week or two ago American president Obama also told the Pakistani regime to stop sponsoring terrorism.

Barack Obama warns Pakistan: Shut down terrorist safe havens

The US president's remarks, made on the eve of his visit to India, were soon condemned by Pakistan and others as "unfair"

Dean Nelson By Dean Nelson, Jaipur3:53PM GMT 23 Jan 2015

President Barack Obama has warned Pakistan it must shut down terrorist safe havens and bring those behind the 2008 Mumbai attacks to justice on the eve of his visit to India.

His comments, made in an interview with the magazine India Today, were condemned in Islamabad as an attempt to curry favour with his hosts which could undermine Pakistan's war against Taliban terrorists in its tribal areas along the Afghan border.

Mr Obama arrives in India on Sunday for his second visit in four years and is hoping to clinch a series of nuclear energy and defence deals to underpin what he hopes will be the "defining partnership" of the 21st century.
He believes the two countries have a natural affinity and wants more trade, greater co-operation against terrorists and pirates and a common approach to climate change.

To underline their common ground on terrorism, he contrasted how the United States had been "unrelenting in our fight against terrorist groups - a fight in which Indians and Americans are united".

"Indians were tragically killed on 9/11, as were Americans on 26/11. On my previous visit to India, my first stop was the memorial at the Taj hotel to pay my respects to the victims, meet with survivors and send a strong message to the Indian people that we stand together in defence of our security and our way of life," he said.

India's neighbour and enemy, Pakistan, was lagging behind, he suggested. "I've made it clear that even as the United States works with Pakistan to meet the threat of terrorism, safe havens within Pakistan are not acceptable and that those behind the Mumbai terrorist attack must face justice," he said.
The United States, along with its partners, had "decimated" the leadership of al-Qaeda in Pakistan and Afghanistan, he said, while the "senseless slaughter" of students and teachers in Peshawar last month was a "painful reminder" of the continuing threat terrorists pose to all.

His comments provoked anger in Pakistan where Mr Obama was accused of undermining its war on Taliban terrorists and undervaluing the lives of thousands of Pakistani soldiers killed in anti-terrorist operations.
Pakistani volunteers carry a student injured in the shootout at a school under attack by Taliban gunmen in Peshawar
Lieutenant-General Talat Masood, retired and a leading strategic analyst, said the president's comments had been made to please India on the eve of his visit but would undermine Pakistan just as its army has intensified its operations against Taliban, al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups in the country.
More than 30,000 army troops are now involved in the Operation Zarb-e-Azb offensive, which was launched last June following an al-Qaeda attack on Karachi Airport.
It has carried out air strikes and artillery attacks on terrorist bases throughout the tribal areas, killing dozens of commanders and volunteers. The offensive was intensified after the Taliban attack on Peshawar's Army Public School in which more than 150 people, mostly children, were killed.
"We have launched a major military operation in which so many lives have been lost. Just to humour the Indians, he's making this statement and it's unfair to Pakistan. It will cause resentment, especially now when Pakistan is doing so much to clear these havens.
"It doesn't make sense. When Pakistan is doing exactly what the international community is asking from them, for them to say these things to please the Indians or rub it is all the time, it's not good politics. If you want to achieve results, you don't say these things, it puts people off.
"[The Army] is taking huge risks by fighting these militants and militant organisations and now you're not even supporting us internationally, it helps the militants. It will disillusion those trying to support the government," Lt-Gen Masood said."

Pakistan has been sponsoring terrorism for decades now 4 world giants and nuclear powers, Russia, China, India and the USA are directly or indirectly telling Pakistan to stop sponsoring terrorism.

      Will Pakistan stop sponsoring terrorism?

      ANSWER: NO.

No, unless enough economic pressure and also political pressure is put upon the Pakistani military to stop sponsoring terrorism.

Otherwise knowing that they can never defeat nuclear power India the Pakistani army will use non-army organizations to cause problems for India and other states e.g. Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

In India and Afghanistan, these "Jihadis" sponsored by Pakistan are:

1: Not regular Pakistani military personnel so the military itself cannot be blamed.

      2. Are eager to die anyway so are expendable fodder for the Pakistan army.

In Bangladesh, though there is no active Pakistani-controlled terrorist organization there, there is an attempt to destabilize Bangladesh using Jamaat e Islami and other radical organizations.

However ultimately in the long run Pakistan will pay the price if it does not stop exporting terrorism to other countries.

Bangladesh, Afghanistan and India are all developing and getting stronger despite Pakistani attempts to destabilize all three countries, whilst Pakistan is in a state of crisis.

Contrary to the opinion I held above it does indeed seem to appear that China has been able to exert some pressure on Pakistan to rein in its proxies the Taliban.

        - The Taliban have made a historic and humiliating U-turn by negotiating with the Kabul government which they had always promised never to do.

        - Pakistan is talking about how it will help to bring peace to Afghanistan (all the adults involved i.e. Chinese, Afghan, Pakistani governments know that Pakistan is behind the Taliban) so this may be a coded way of saying they will lean on the Taliban heavily if not essentially command them to stop their war in Afghanistan.

        - The Chinese are no fools and know clearly that Pakistan destabilizes Afghanistan and sponsors the Taliban, it seems they want an end to this nonsense.

Not only that, Pakistan will implode if it continues to support Taliban where other regional and extra-regional countries will seek to destabilize it which Pakistan has been made to get a grip over. Pakistan has gained absolutely nothing while geo-politically having left itself more exposed and every one hates its guts. It will loose more than it will gain it continues with its past policies, mark my words. On the account of its policies vis a vis Afghanistan its losses by far outweighs than any gains.

              1. Pakistani generals live in a time warp and in the 70s or 80s and are intellectually masturbating with delusions of being master geo-political chessmasters in a "war" against India, which means they use Afghanistan for "strategic depth" i.e. keep the country in ruins and subservient to Pakistan.

This has only resulted in Afghans hating Pakistan as an enemy (Afghans generally hate Pakistan far more than more placid Bengalis) and having a good view of India.

              2. Afghanistan is experiencing urbanization and a rising middle class who are more aware of the world and the nefarious role of Pakistan in destabilizing the country, resulting in a Pakistan sandwiched between a hostile India and an upset Afghanistan.

3.Afghanistan now has the largest military in the whole of central Asia, roughly under 170,000 troops (minimum) with Kazakhstan's army the second largest at 60,000 but having far more territory to defend and bordering nuclear giants Russia and China too.

The air force is only going to expand and Afghanistan will receive support from Russia, China, India, Turkey, Iran, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and possibly Saudi Arabia in preventing the Taliban (i.e. Pakistan) from regaining power.

The useless and notoriously bloodthirsty, wicked and corrupt generals of Rawalpindi have failed in Afghanistan, they have lost.

Not just China But recently even russia support for Pakistan surprised india.

                6 Jul, 2015
NEW DELHI: There is unease in Delhi over recent stand that old ally Russia took at a recent anti-terror financing meet organised at Brisbane by opposing move by India to demand censure against Pakistan for its inaction against JuD & LeT.

While New Zealand and Australia also opposed the move, India is surprised with Russia's position which in the past has been very supportive of India's stand on Kashmir to the extent of vetoing resolutions in UN Security Council.

Pakistan is what the Chinese have in their back pocket because of its potential but they will never go down with that ship if it comes to it.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

Bangladesh was never part of the true Pakistan Movement.

Infact even Allama Iqbal vision for the indigenous people of IVC didn't included Bangladesh.

                      Bangladesh seperation was inevitable

                          Read my post again,

The seperation was inevitable but we didn't wanted them to go away.though one way or another, they would had become a seperate nation one day.

The only that make me sad is the way we treated them and surrendering to the most timid people on earth(indians).

                          Back to topic:

Not just china but even russia has recently extended its hand toward pakistan despite the concerns of india. This indian cat in disguise of bengali is day dreaming and wasting his time.

                              Conception of Pakistan.

Now tell me where is bangladesh mentioned in this?I am sure you do know that Bangladesh was added later so that pakistan movement could gain more importance because of much larger demand.

West and East Pakistan merger was more like a federation and was bound to get seperate.

Anyway we got kashmir/GB as bonus.
