        From Bangladeshi newspaper, Prothom Alo:

We condemn the barbaric terrorism of the Taliban

        Update: 12:55, Dec 18, 2014

The national flag is half mast all over Pakistan and a three-day national mourning has been declared. The entire nation of Pakistan is submerged in deep sorrow, unprecedented even in a country afflicted by terrorism and violence. Never before in Pakistan has such a barbaric act taken place, were 132 school children were killed in cold blood. On behalf of the people of Bangladesh, we extend out deepest sympathies to the families of the slain children and the grieving people of Pakistan. We also condemn the Pakistani Taliban for this cowardly attack.

This attack on a school in Peshawar on Tuesday is different from other terrorist acts. The Taliban terrorists did not enter this military-run government school and take the students or teachers hostage. No demands were voiced. They had entered with the objective of killing a maximum number of children and they did just that. They didn't even shoot randomly, but one by one with deliberately aimed bullets. How can such cold-blooded killing of innocent children be explained?

In a statement of the Talibans, it was said that this attack on the Peshawar school was in revenge of the operations being carried out against the Talibans by the Pakistan army in the tribal areas of the country. This gives a clear look into the mentality of the Talibans. The peace-loving people of the world join the sorrowful people of Pakistan in condemning this barbarism.

Pakistan's army chief Raheel Sharif had declared a pledge to eliminate the Taliban from the soil of Pakistan and on the very same Tuesday over 10 air attacks were carried out on the Taliban-populated areas. No doubt, the Talibans will have to face a strong counter attack from the Pakistan army. But it will not be possible to annihilate the Talibans through military means alone, as has already been proven. Pakistan must declare war against terrorism by uprooting the political and social basis upon which this terrorism is being conducted.
