Don't try to make a mountain out of a mole.

And do you know what 12 billion dollars in 1971 meant? It probably was the entire GDP size or constituted a large portion of it. Moreover, Bangladesh had to build every thing from the scratch including military because the Punjabi-Muhajir junta had diverted all investment to Karachi and Punjab.

And more Western aid had been pumped into Paki economy during Afghan War and West's crusade on terror than there any effect of sanctions was.

The point is despite limited resources compared to Pakistan and almost the same population size, Bangladesh has performed better than Pakistan and it seems it will continue doing so.
Sorry but The Political enviroment in Bangladesh was more stable in Bangladesh than Pakistan.

After kargil war we were isolated from the world community

Despite aid,Sanction does affect the Economies.Look at iran. They are struck between 350-430Billion dollars GDP ever since 2004.Even Pakistan will replace them in 2018-19.

And yes about the only point i agree with you.compared to Pakistan they have less resources and almost similar population but they are just growing at merely 6% Growth rate which is common around the world in the developing countries. They are yet to clock something close to 10% which Pakisan has done prior to the war on terror.

Even under such tough situation Pakistan Growth rate in the first 6 months of this year (July-dec) was 4.1%.And we will eventually end up with 4.4-4.5% Growth rate and Bangladesh this year most likely growth rate will be 5.7%.

Thats hardly a difference of 1% despite so much difference in the current state of Both countries and the 1% difference will also get reduced next year onwards.

Pakistan Will change its GDP base year in 2016,Which is suppose to add 33% of Pakistan GDP(Nominal aswell as PPP).Than just imagine the difference we will have with Bangladesh in term of GDP and than Per capita income.

And look how humble Bangali-Tiger is accepting Bangladesh to be an impoverished country unlike you and other Punjabi-Pakistis who are cocky like Sultan Rahi and brag excessively.

That is out-rightly wrong. There were more political disturbances in Bangladesh than in Pakistan. And Pakistan was one of the main countries besides Israel and Egypt that was the recipient of the largest Western military and economic aid over a long period (1980s, 2000s).

And quote reliable statistics by some authentic institution instead of quoting that fabricated figure by the State Bank of Pakistan and Nawaz govt.

You should also support your claims with credible source's.

          Quote what?Growth rate figures?

Growth rate on the level of years can only be confirmed by neutral source's.On quarter level you have no choice but to agree with either SBP or the finance ministry numbers.though i do remember a article by dawn which had made a claim that IMF had already confiremd the 5.1% Growth rate for First Quarter

First 6 months Growth rate is 4.1%

The most recent WB prediction(April 2014) Put 4% Growth rate for Pakistan(In dec 2013 they had predicted 3.2% for Pakistan but because of awesome measure, they had increased it to 4% within 4 months)

          while for bangladesh 5.4%.

Pakistan Growth rate increased from 3.6% to 4%(Don't be surprised if they re upgrade it to 4.5% in the coming months)

While Bangladesh Growth rate had dropped from 6% in 2013(6.3% in 2012) to 5.4% in 2014.

This can give you a a idea which country is doing better considering the situation in both countries and the upward Trend in Pakistan and the downside of Growth in Bangladesh.

If we get closer to 4.5% This year.than 6% Growth rate won't be impossible next year.

Add to this the change of base year in 2016 While bangladesh has changed the base year last year already

Pointless discussion about Pakistan and Bangladesh really. The facts and statistics are there and can be found on Google.

Pakistan needs to worry about its war which has killed around 60,000 people according to some. More than all the people killed in the Turkish war against Kurds in Kurdistan which has raged for far longer.

Bangladesh doesn't care about Pakistan e.g. our government or media never talk about Balochistan, Pashtun rights etc. We care about developing our poor country and Pakistan is only relevant in that it needs to apologize to us for its war crimes and genocide.

Thanks to Egypt for supporting Bangladesh against Pakistani harassment and support for terrorists and war criminals!!

the funny thing regarding world politics is " Nations do know the importance of trade and mutual corporation yet they indulge in conflicts & hostility towards each other,,&unfortunately its true in case of south Asian countries also....
India is under recession & economy is not growing fast as it should...but upcoming regime change in India is very crucial (most probably BJP will form new govt in ongoing election )..

New govt will revise the relations with neighbor nations & by providing much promised industry favorable environment ,it gonna boost the growth rate once again...just wait & watch..upcoming months of New Indian Govt are very significant for south Asian economy & politics as a whole....new equations will be in place definitely...

'Bangladesh to gain by helping northeast India develop'

“It will ultimately be a win-win situation for all of us,” Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali told a seminar in Dhaka on Saturday.

Bangladesh Itihash Sammilani, an organisation of historians, organised the seminar on Bangladesh’s liberation war 1971 and the relations with north-eastern Indian states.

The minister recalled the contribution of the north-east states to the cause of Bangladesh's liberation in 1971 when he said 'millions of our people' took refuge in Tripura, Meghalaya and Assam besides West Bengal.

He said lot of development took place after the independence and “we are playing an important role in this region’s economic development, peace and stability”.

He cited Bangladesh’s steps on establishing more rail and road connectivity with the Indian north-eastern states and said the region comes as “an important link of connectivity” as part of Bangladesh’s plan to be bridge between South Asia and South-East Asia and beyond”.

The proposed BCIM (Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar) economic corridor will pass through northeast India after originating in Kolkata and passing through Bangladesh before it enters Myanmar and finally China's Yunnan province.

This regional corridor is felt to be a game-changer for the economy of all four countries.

Mahmood Ali said Bangladesh had already requested India to allow opening a Deputy High Commission in Guwahati and upgrade its Agartala Visa Office to an Assistant High Commission to increase diplomatic and commercial presence in the north-east.

He said there would be direct air link between Dhaka and Guwahati soon.

“We need to complement India’s endeavour to develop its north-eastern states in our own interest”.

He said the development of north-east also has “an important security dimension which we should not lose sight of”.

He also reminded that Bangladesh had already contributed to north-east’s power sector development “by allowing transportation of heavy equipment for Tripura’s Palatana Power Plant through our territory”.

Tripura's Left government in return agreed to supply 100MW of electricity to Bangladesh from Palatana , which , Mahmood Ali, has now been cleared by India.

“Once grid connectivity between the two countries is established for this purpose, it will open up more opportunities for exchange of power,” he said.

He said bridge over Feni river, rail connectivity between Akhaura and Agartala and development of Ramgarah-Sabroom link were some of the “small links in the bigger picture of an inter-connected region that we strive for”.

This message, the foreign minister said, had been conveyed during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to Agartala in Jan 2012.

He said Bangladesh also proposed direct bus services between Dhaka-Shillong and Dhaka-Guwahati on the model of the Dhaka-Agartala bus service.

He said the “abundance” of natural resources in India’s north-east region has “huge economic potentials that remained to be tapped”.

“Due to our geographical contiguity, we are in the best position to do so,” he said.

“Their natural resources and raw materials can be imported to Bangladesh for value addition and re-exported to India or elsewhere.

“This is taking place but needs to be done on a much larger scale,” he said.

He advised businessmen of both sides to think about more investment in the region in different sectors.

The minister said Bangladesh attaches “highest importance” to its relationship with India that he said was based on “historical, cultural, linguistic, religious, ethnic and social ties”.

“India also recognises that a stable and economically robust Bangladesh is in its own interest”.

He said this “mutual respect and understanding” of each other’s concerns had put the relationship on “a solid footing”.

                1. Pakistan has been destabilizing Afghanistan for decades and wants it under its "sphere of influence" it believes the same about Bangladesh.

                2. Pakistan wants a Bangladesh hostile to India and not trading with it. It wants a Bangladesh which works with Pakistan to destabilize India including arming anti-Indian separatists in India's north-east.

To achieve this Pakistan and its assets e.g. the Jamaat e Islami terrorist organization will dub any sort of positive interaction or deal with India as "slavery", "treachery" etc.

                3. Bangladeshi national interests is for Bangladesh to have normal relations with our nuclear neighbour to the west and to maximize trade between the two states and establish regional trade connectivity.

The next leader of Bangladesh will probably be Khaleda Zia sooner or later. It remains to be seen whether the pro-Pakistan Khaleda Zia will resume her policies of destabilizing India, provoking the nuclear state and so on.

India for its part must do the following:

                - Stop its aggressive water policies against Bangladesh.

                - Continue to decrease the number of Bangladeshi civilians being shot on the border.

                - Also stop blocking access to the Indian market for Bangladeshi goods by using false pretexts and stalling as they have done for many years.

Other than things like this we Bangladeshis really have no issues with India and the Pakistani-run defence.pk forum and its Jamaati members there do not reflect normal Bangladeshis and their views to India. Do not go to a Pakistani forum and expect to find the views of normal Bangladeshis.
