  • [Hazara] IGP for developing intelligence driven policing

PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police Fiaz Ahmad Toru has directed Hazara Region police high-ups to develop intelligence driven policing and keep screw tight against kidnappers, dacoits and proclaimed offenders.
He gave these directives in a high-level meeting held at the office of DIG Hazara Friday to review law and order in the division.
DIG Hazara Dr. Muhammad Suleman, all DPOs, SPs investigation of Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Battagram and Kohistan districts were also present on the occasion.
The meeting reviewed performance of Hazara region police and participants were issued several instructions for bringing improvement in law and order situation.
Taking exception to the growing incidents of kidnapping in Mansehra and Haripur and car lifting incidents in Abbottabad, IGP directed the officials of the force to further pull up their sleeves and bring to book the gangs involved in it.
The police officials were also directed to continuously carry on the ongoing campaign against the anti-social elements and make it successful at all cost.
Toru directed that each police station should develop its own intelligence system through a systematic and organised manner and maintain beat books and proforma for this purpose. - APP

During the Sunni/Shia conflicts in Haripur 8 years ago, the police ran away and locked themselves in the Police Station. They had to call the army to rescue them. The police pretty much had no say in any affairs over there, unless the people they were involved with were poor such as Pashtuns from camps, etc. There was a Lashkare Taiba recruitment center right in front of the Police Station and opened 24/7. lulz The police were pretty much a joke and they were too scared to go to some areas like Babu Muhallah as well, which was famous for its "Dhaakus".

^ yes they actually did and an inefficient police force was one of the reasons talibs were able to move through these areas so easily but Pakistan Army took control of their training earlier on this year to better equip and prepare them ..the first eltie trained force graduated this march and the program is going on to further compliment the numbers

Good on them, well, let's just hope that the police do not act like the army, since, they receive the training from them.
