Karzai arrives in Pakistan for talks
    (AFP) – 2 hours ago
ISLAMABAD — Afghan President Hamid Karzai arrived in Islamabad Wednesday for talks with Pakistani leaders covering issues between the wary neighbours, a foreign office spokesman told AFP.

Karzai was greeted by food and agriculture minister Nazar Muhammad Gondal and other senior officials on his arrival in the capital.
"He (Karzai) will hold talks with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and discuss bilateral relations and the situation in Afghanistan," foreign office spokesman Abdul Basit said.

"Bilateral relations have improved considerably between our countries during the last two years and this visit will give further momentum to the relationship," he added.

The visit is Karzai's second to Pakistan in six months and takes place three days before Afghan parliamentary elections.

Karzai's government is pursuing peace talks with different factions within Afghanistan including some Taliban leaders believed to be living in the remote tribal border areas in Pakistan.

Pakistan has repeatedly said it could play a role in promoting reconciliation in Afghanistan and has expressed willingness to assist Afghan-led peace efforts.

President Karzai knows that the reins of the ISI puppets knowns as Taliban are in the hands of Pakistan hence his visit. His truthful revelations in the press conference along with Zardari today pissed off a lot of boot-lickers.

Unfortunately no Pakistani print media reported the pinching answers to the narrow minded prejudiced questions of Pakistani yellow journalists.

When asked whether Afghanistan is helping India to use destabilise Pakistan he said that India is our good neighbour and has contributed to the development and progress of Afghanistan and replied angrily that if you have proof show us and if not then...[saying by his body language " shut up"]

Answering another question regarding taliban, he said that we know that these taliban have not come from Brazil or Burkina Faso or the Ivory Coast but they belong to the both our countries...

In another answer to a question regarding his "allegations" on Pakistan despite "Pakistan's hospitality of Afghans" he said boldly that unfortunately the factual position on ground proves his points....

Here is what the media has reported:

It is because Pakistani guys are the root cause of all disturbance in Afghanistan that Karzai has to come in person to talk to them [and warn them to face the music for their frivilous activities in future] otherwise why would he waste his time to see these unpleasant faces.

I don't believe he is in a position to threaten anyone, least of all Pakistan..presidents don't go to other countries to threaten them.

Anyways it's election time I don't think anything can be more obvious than the reason for his 'trip'

Pakistan is a third world failed state and now on the brink of collapse or atleast bankrupcy. It is a country whose President and Army Chief gets threatened even over a phone call.

I agree that Karzai was not here to threaten but to warn and remind Pakistan that if Kabul burns so will Islamabad and I think it was a decent defencive neighbourly gesture.

Election was the most important point on their agenda but for the common sense reason that Pakistani agencies are ever ready to sabotage all those efforts which could bring peace to Afghanistan [and hence to the South Asia] due to her dark past.

                      Talal,

As much as I have argued with others as well, take it or leave it no one cares, firing ex NDS chief had very very little to with Pakistan. It is was a decision based on internal factors and part to of a revamp strategy which goes beyooooond just Pakistan - which you are ignorant of. Don't see everything through blinkers.

Yes, 3rd trip, so what? You army chief paid two visit in two weeks. Number of visits in the AfPak diplomacy don't mean a thing now. Hobrook and U.S. secretary is there almost every other day. For once I can comfotably rate Karzai, and this is encouraging to be honest. I have always liked his style with Pakistan - that of not giving flying shyt! This is yet very bold, offenssive and rigid in diplomatic terms.

                            Muhsina,

What do you guys mean when you say 'to do with the election'? The timing of the visit coninciding with the election and yet him making all the noises on stage in Pakistan is not that of asking Pakistan to rescue the election, quite to the contrary..

Man what is your point state it clear so we know what you are talking about. I am telling you that alot of it had to do with Karzai's and his co's strategy than to do with Pakistan per se. I am not being dismissive here but I am clearly telling you that it has more to do with his own linning up. And you are right the time is changing and that is why. If this happened to make Pakistan happy too, then I am sure he knows that too, and may thought of it as a win win both ways.
