  • Jalalabad:Five rockets fired at airport

JALALABAD (PAN): Suspected militants fired several rockets into the eastern city of Jalalabad Tuesday morning, but no one was hurt in the attack, police said.
Some rockets landed near the Jalalabad airport. Police said five rockets were fired from the Tarbela area of the Chapparhar district.
Police spokesman Col. Abdul Ghafoor told Pajhwok Afghan News the rockets landed in fields near the airport.
Asked about the security measures to safeguard the city from rocket attacks, Ghafoor said police conducted patrols every night to stop such attacks. He said the attacks were again launched over the past two nights.
Locals said their lives were in danger because of the airport. Hafizullah, a resident of the Saracha Pla area, told Pajhwok foreigners were stationed at the airport and the opponents were firing rockets to target them.
He said the foreign troops blocked the main road for traffic after the attack which caused problems for the people. He demanded the government provide another place to foreign and Afghan forces outside the city.
The governor's spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, said security forces would soon stop the attacks.
An official at NATO's media office in the eastern zone told Pajhwok that all the five rockets were landed outside the airport.
Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, with rebel spokesman Zabeehullah Mujahid saying the rockets hit the target.
A similar attack was carried out last week. The rockets were landed in front of the house of member of Wolesi Jirga Haji Abdul Zahir. Security situation has deteriorated in Nangarhar over the past few weeks.
Lalpura district chief, Said Muhammad Pahlawan, was killed in a bomb blast outside the palace in the city of Jalalabad the other day.

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

      I believe Taliban claimed responsibility.

          Really?

I don't understand how one can take pride in killing civilians.
