He defended Afghanistan my friend he wanted autonomy for Pashtunkhwa but not at the cost of Afghanistan.
He doesn't even get why Bacha Khan choose to be buried in Afghanistan instead of Pakistan, what makes you he will understand such a simple fact as to what Bacha Khan supported?
Afghanistan is the creator of pashtunistan issue for pakistan. Now they cant back out from it and have to support it to the end.
The reason why Pakistan isn't done meddling with us is because we still haven't given up on this issue, this was even raised at the parliament two years ago. But if Pakhtunkhwa isn't showing any support in return then how long do you want us to go on about it? Until we end up being fifth province of Pakistan? Don't tell us to do something you yourself ain't ready for!

You are right about the first part about Bacha Khan. He preferred Jalalabad and for all the right reasons.
About the second part, no not entirely. The durand line issue is trans-national. Both sides whether they love Pakistan or hate it, disregard the line. So Pakistan can't really impose it...neither can their maeranae plaar US. Had that been the sole issue then they would have been anti-taliban (talibs don't recognize it and still lay claim to Pashtunkhwa).
Pakistan's issue with Afghanistan and for that matter tribal areas is a security and trade one. Durand line and stamping out pashtun movements in Pashtunkhwa are a little secondary to their primary fear -> India. After Pakistan lost 65 and 71 wars, they came to realize they can't fight India head on and the idea of a conventional warfare is not going to work. So they adopted a policy of strategic depth thinking they could secure the trade of central asia, use the qibaeel pashtunkhwa and ultimately Afghanistan as a hedge against India. A safe frontier to the west ensure they can continue their light intensity fights in India (via militant groups).
They use jamathiyaan militants within Pashtunkhwa to stamp out any pashtun movement....this was really apparent in areas like swat and tribal areas. Where important lashkar leaders were killed, party workers assassinated, journalists killed, and infrastructure destroyed. The only problem for Pakistan policy was that it is backfiring and it essentially failed. Since those movements go back to Bacha Khan and Khan Samad khan..their history is a lot longer and has enough roots to stay despite their trying.
Nowadays the fact that Bacha khan or Pashtun movements are looked in a good light is a huge thing. 20 years ago if you, me or anyone suggested changing the curriculum to have more Pashtun history would be an act of kuffar and enmity with Pakistan.
