Police are investigating claims of a vicious road rage incident in Bradford in which a terrified Muslim mother and daughter were pulled by a mob from their car by their hair before being attacked.
Yasmeen Din, 40, told the Bradford local press she and her daughter Aneesha, 17, were pulling into Horton Park Health Centre, when their car was hit by a blue Ford Focus, whose driver then fled from the scene.
Shocked but not too seriously hurt she said they inspected their damaged car and were helped by passers-by, but the woman driver of the other car returned about 15 minutes later in a silver Citroen car with a group of four or five men and women, who then attacked her and her daughter.
She said: “Why would you hit somebody’s car when you’re going to damage your own vehicle? It seemed like road rage. She hit the car while we were in it, then they came back to us.”
“They were beating and dragging me out of the car. My head was yanked to the floor and there were punches flying.”
“That’s all I remember, I don’t know who they were. My heart was racing, I was screaming. I could hear my daughter screaming and I couldn’t get to her, I was so worried.”
Miss Din, of Keighley, who is a full-time carer for her autistic son, said her face was “swollen like a football” as she suffered a split lip and bruising in the attack.
Her daughter, Aneesha, said: “Because the car’s doors weren’t locked we were both dragged out. My mum was being assaulted by three people. One of them held her by her hair and the other was kicking her on the legs.
“When I got out of the car one came up to me, I was bending down to pick up my keys and she grabbed me by the hair, she was a lot bigger than me and I couldn’t fight back.”
Road rage attacks are becoming increasingly common in British roads and Muslims living in the UK are becoming more and more victims of random attacks, where a normal incident will be pushed to the level of violence by the hatred of many members of the public towards Islam, especially now they are losing the war in Afghanistan and the media is constantly stirring up hatred against Islam.
We ask Allah to make our sisters strong in the deen and don’t allow these attacks to affect them as it is the Qadr of Allah that they would be tested this way, that he makes the brothers strong and determined, so that the kuffar do not feel they can constantly push us around this way, ameen.
The Horten Park area has been one of tension since Muslims successfully applied for the construction of a large new Masjid which was opposed by non-Muslim members of the community and racist graffiti has been sprayed up around the area by non-Muslim youths spoiling for trouble.

The English Defence League has promised to march in Bradford on August 28th, where previous far right marches in 2001 touched off riots, and though we don’t condone violence neither should Muslims allow these enemies of Islam to freely march through Muslim neighbourhood and they should be ready to protest and demonstrate.
EDL demonstrations in the past have often resulted in Muslim and ethnic minority shops being smashed up, Muslims being assaulted and even sisters being intimidated and attacked by these cowardly mobs.
As Muslims living in Britain we need to remember we not only have a right to defend ourselves in the law in the UK but also others when they are under attack as long as we don’t use excessive force or pursue those who attack Muslims away from the incident and The Islamic Standard certainly wouldn’t encourage anyone to attack others unless it is a matter of self-defence or break the law in any way.
