Imran Khan rebuffs US, says will boost ties with China, Iran

    Omer Farooq Khan | TNN | Jul 27, 2018, 04:30 IST
Underlining that one of Pakistan's major challenges was its foreign policy, PM-elect Imran Khan said his government would focus on bolstering ties with China, Saudi Arabia and Iran. "No other country needs peace like we do," he said while making it clear that peace in Pakistan was not dependent on its deteriorating relations with the US. In a rebuff to President Donald Trump, he said though he wished relations with the US to be mutually beneficial, they could not be one-sided.

On relations with India, he said, "This blame game that whatever goes wrong in Pakistan is because of India and vice versa brings us back to square one…This is not how we will grow, and it is detrimental to the sub-continent."

Pakistan, he said, would rather strengthen its relations with China. "They have given us a chance by investing in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and we also want to learn how to improve people's lives, drag them out of poverty. We will also learn how to deal with corruption," he said, making his admiration for China amply clear.

Saudi Arabia, he said, "has stood by us in our toughest times. We would like to be a reconciliatory state and help them resolve their inner tensions." The PTI chief, who has long advocated talks with the Taliban, said he would like to see open borders with a peaceful Afghanistan.
"The past is not my concern. The future is no longer my concern either. One minute. One minute of everything at once. And anything before is nothing. Everything after nothing. Nothing in comparison to that one minute."

Imran Khan is basically a spokesman for the Army. PTI is the political party of the Army. The Paki Army is reacting and thinking ahead so movements like Turkeys Erdagon or Egypts Morsi (failed) cant unseat them.

If popular movements start demonstrations, the Army can counter those demonstrations with their own political party. The Army basically unseated Nawaz Sharif with a manipulated election creating an image of legitimacy.

Yep. Some Afghans are unfortunately falling for Imran Khan's platitudes towards Afghanistan and thinking he may actually end up being a good thing for Afghanistan.

Nawaz Sharif may have been corrupt (as if any politician in Pakistan isn't lol), but he and the TTP were basically the only real opposition to the Paki army. The army carpet bombed the TTP away, and ruined Sharif and his party, and now they have a dumb stooge as PM. Who needs a military coup when you can just manufacture a politician that'll act in complete accordance with whatever the military wants?

Imran Khan has called the Pakistani Army a hired gun of the US. If anyone says oh thats because the Army allows him to say it- this is going towards a level of disbelief. Yeah- the army is going to allow Imran to take a big dump on their so-called reputation!!!! Elephants can fly too!

The idea that Imran Khan is a Pakistani Army stooge is perhaps one of the most ridiculous lies spread about him by people and parties that actually happen to either be Pakistani Army stooges or benefit from the Pak Army's support for the decades long war in Afghanistan with NATO supply lines. The Pakistan support for that war has brought billions of dollars into Pakistan as well as billions in high interest IMF loans which were only given based on continued Pakistan support for that Military Industry Complex war.

The Pakistan civilian government has always been a stooge of the Army. Exceptions were Bhutto who ended up getting executed by Zia.

Imran is no stooge, and you will see him put this dirty Pakistan Army of Prostitutes under control. All the other guys were front men for this international prostitution - they agreed to take the publicity hit - pretending to everyone that they were telling Pak Army to keep NATO supply lines going- the Army was just taking orders--- BS!!! The Army was Sharif and Zardari's boss.

Imran Khan has again restated he will be taking Pakistan out of this war in Afghanistan (Trump Admin meeting directly with Taliban is the writing on the wall). You will all see the Pro-War MFs start to cry and make the most ridiculous stories - that Imran is Army stooge. No wonder Ghani was the first clown calling him. All that Anti-Pakistan blah blah when all the filthy supplies come from Pakistan! BS. Ghani is actually pro-Pakistan Army because he likes this MIC war to go on forever- made possible by Pakistan slavery and subservience!!!

You guys really believe that Zardari and Sharif allowed drone strikes and NATO supplies- NO -- it was the Pak Army of prostitutes who allowed it. They made the decisions. Their game is over. They could not control the popularity of Imran Khan- and they have no choice but to accept it.

A man who is against that is no stooge of the army lol

Your talking as though the elections in Pakistan are not rigged. The country is corrupt to the core but its election system is immune to corruption? It is evident that the winner was going to be the guy who went to bed with the Army.
