Multan panchayat orders rape of alleged rapist's sister

MULTAN (Dunya News) – The suspect who raped a 17-year-old girl in Multan’s Muzaffarabad area on the orders of Panchayat (village council) is still at large as the police remained unsuccessful in arresting him even after 14 hours of the incident.

The police have yet arrested 20 council members who ordered the rape whereas operations are underway to apprehend the prime suspect.





On July 16, the 12-year-old was allegedly raped by Umer Wada. A Panchayat headed by Ameen and Saeed Patwari was held to declare the verdict in the incident.

The Panchayat members directed the victim’s brother Ishfaque to avenge the incident while raping Wada’s sister.On July 18, Ishfaque raped her while complying with the council’s orders.

The victim’s family had registered a case against Wada in Women Police Centre. However; when Azra’s parents came to know of the incident they also filed a case against Ishfaque.

Muzaffarbad police came into action after receiving information of Panchayt’s decision and arrested the council head Ameen and several others.

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif while taking notice of the incident has directed stern action and immeduate arrest of the suspects.

True. A pashtun jirga would've executed the guy (possibly the girl too).

Not sure which is better though. One method eliminates all defective units. Like a manufacturing plant only ensuring The right stuff gets out of the assembly lime.

The other is pure eye for an eye. I mean, Its horrible and barbaric... but if you ignore that the women were treated like tradeable commodities, one must commend the guy's commitment to trying to be as balanced as possible. You shoot his cow, he'll shoot your cow. You rape his sister, he'll rape your sister.

New details have it saying that they were cousins, (probably distant) the parents agreed to the verdict and the mothers decided to report the crimes only after they were committed.

People in general were smarter in the past than they are now. If governments were functional in the first place, no one would depend on a council for justice. Village elders these days just just old goats with no common sense.

it would've made much more sense, if the rapist was raped, or his **** chopped off, like what happened to an Indian rapist last year.

One credit I give to Western society is that at least as far as social consciousness is concerned, sexual assault is taken much more seriously in practice.

We need to take issues of sexual violence more seriously and I believe the only way we can do that is if we work together in a more organized and integrated fashion internationally.

What I say about some groups of people is more targeted for specific audience members. Sexual violence is a problem that plagues the third world, so finger pointing won't help. Our governments are either ruled by self-interested power brokers or regressive elements that are in denial. so it's up to us , the common citizen to make things change. It's not a Muslim, Hindu, Shi'a, Sunni, Western, Eastern problem, it's a human problem.

Ignore idiots like Karachi, he doesn't give a damn about social injustice, he just wants some brownie points for how enlightened he pretends to be.

Also, the rape victims mother went to panchayat. Panchayat said rape the other person's sister and we'll call it square. The other person then went to the police which is why this made news in the first place.

In the West, Rapists and pedophiles are freed all the time and repeat their crime, and rape is common in the West.
