  • Afghan woman sexually assaulted by Pakistani airport official.

A Pakistani officer has been detained for sexually harassing an Afghan woman in the country’s main airport in Islamabad.

According to the local media reports, citing informed officials, the incident took place lately in Islamabad airport during the interrogation of the two Afghan women.

Director FIA Mazharul Haq Kakakhail has confirmed to Dawn News that the assistant director Akram Shad who had been posted at BBIA in February this year has been found guilty of sexually abusing the woman.

Kakakhail further added that the officer has not only been suspended and removed from his post, but was arrested by the police after he was found guilty in a departmental inquiry.

The two women were apparently held in the airport upon their arrival from Afghanistan after they failed to provide the contact number of their accommodation during their stay in Islamabad.

This comes as a Pakistani police officer was suspended from his job after he was found guilty of sexually abusing an Afghan woman last year in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the local media reports, a Norwegian mother and daughter, Haseena Khalid and Fauzia Khalid, were also abused after they were detained in the airport on 15th of April this year.

Was the woman sexually assaulted like the headline says or was she harassed like the article mentions? Both actions are absolutely condemnable, but there is a huge difference between assault and harassment.

Regardless, I'm very happy that the officer was arrested.

This is a terrible act but judging from the context of your recent posts it seems you are trying to implicate everyone from Pakistan which is wrong. Everyone in Pakistan isn't a sex offender.

Zuhra Rastyar and Helai Rastyar arrived from Kabul through Pakistan International Airlines’ flight PK-250 on July 2. As the two women approached the immigration desk, they were asked to provide their hotel’s phone numbers. When they couldn’t furnish the numbers, they were asked sit in a side room.
In her complaint lodged with the Airport police, Zuhra Rastyar said since they could not provide hotel’s phone numbers the FIA staff made them waiting there for five hours, although they had valid passports and visas.
In the meantime, a FIA senior official, who spotted the two young women on CCTV screen, asked a sub-inspector to bring the two women to his office which was located outside the international arrival lounge.
The SI took two Afghan women to his room where they were threatened that they would cancel their visas and sent them back to their home country, if they didn’t obey their orders.
She said they asked them that their officers would take a room next to their room in the hotel to keep an eye on them during their stay in Pakistan.
“Since we had no other choice we agreed to their demand. One of the immigration staff then asked my younger sister Helia to bring our passports for putting entry stamps on them,” she said, adding when her sister left the room the senior officer stood up and locked the door from inside and tried to sexually assault her.
“I stood up and started screaming and tried to run away from the office,” she said.
She said she could not give his name but was sure that he was the main officer.
She demanded the Pakistan government take notice of the incident otherwise she would refer the case to Afghan embassy in Islamabad. “The authorities concerned should watch the CCTV images and bring the accused to justice,” Zuhra Rastyar said in her FIR.
Later, both the sisters left the airport.
When the deputy superintendent of police (Civil Line Circle) Farhan Aslam was contacted, he confirmed that the additional director FIA, who was found guilty in the departmental inquiry, was arrested by the police.

It has more to do with Afghan girls lodging FIR in thana and threatening to take the matter to Afghan embassy. This must have been happening for long time and other women were not reporting it out of shame and fear. But these ghairat manday Afghan girls bravely resisted the sexual assault and made noises about the incident.

Decent people don't put sex offenders in private rooms with the authority to interrogate women in the first place. I guess in your version of decency as well as Islam, when a person troubles themselves with filing an FIR against a sexual predator, the damage caused against the victim of sexual assault is automatically cancelled and ought to be ignored from that point onwards.

Doesn't Pakistan have female officers to handle female travelers? Women should avoid traveling alone, but if they have to they need to be educated to never allow themselves to be placed anywhere alone with men. There are too many ****bags who will try to take advantage of lone women. Alhamdulillah the woman in this case was able to resist the assault attempt and make enough noise about it to get the perpetrator in trouble.

So do you think they would have ignored it if these girls didn't make a fuss? Regardless a terrible incident.

                    Typical desperate South Asian behavior.

These women were lucky they were in a airport, and not in some isolated streeet, IT could've been much much worse.

Its unsafe for women to travel to Indic Places on their own. Specially light skinned women, who stand out like a Drop of water in the Desert. South Asians males tend to be thirsty as hell.

In cases of rape or sexual assault, there is no need for 4 witnesses and forensic evidence is admissible.

Also, as economist Kaushik Basu says: "For a nation to progress it is important for people to spend time on science, mathematics and literature instead of spending time showing that 5,000 years ago their ancestors did science, mathematics and literature."

Pfff... OK noob... 2 things for you:

                          1. There are fair skinned people in Islamabad. Even fair skinned punjabis, who aren't that many to begin with, are ever present in Isb. What do you know about Isb? Nothing, it seems.

                          2. There are ample dark skinned Afghans. Ample. Do you know what those women looked like? They could've been dark skinned for all you know
