  • Four Afghan police killed in bomb attack

At least four Afghan police officers have been killed and several others have been wounded following an attack on their convoy in western Afghanistan.
According to Afghan officials, the incident took place in an area near Herat airport on Sunday.
"Four policemen were martyred and another officer was wounded," AFP quoted a senior regional police official as saying.
Officials say a female police officer is among the victims of the fatal incident.
Several vehicles were damaged in the blast and fire engulfed at least two fuel tankers at the scene.
The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack, a Press TV correspondent reported.
Elsewhere, a bomb blast hit a prison police convoy in the southern city of Kandahar, injuring at least one person.
The attacks come just hours after NATO announced that it had lost at least three of its troops in separate incidents in troubled southern Afghanistan.
Militants carry out regular attacks against US-led troops and Afghan government forces in the country's volatile south and east.
However, militants have expanded their activities in the relatively peaceful western and northern regions of Afghanistan over the past months.
Nine years after the invasion of the country, the US and its Western allies have yet to bring stability to Afghanistan.
