Pakistan has stepped up cross-border firing after the Indian Army conducted surgical strikes on terror launch pads in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Though some violations have been reported on both sides, the cease-fire however remains in effect. However, five civilians sustained minor injuries on the Indian side of the de facto border.
Earlier, Pakistan targeted Indian posts along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir's Akhnoor tehsil late Sunday evening.
They said they reject Indian efforts to "shift the focus from its brutal atrocities to suppress the indigenous uprising of the Kashmiri people to false claims of terrorism" across the Line of Control (LoC).
Yesterday, Pakistani troops violated ceasefire four times and restored to heavy firing and mortar shelling in Saujian, Shahpur-Kerni, Mandi, and KG sectors in Poonch district, injuring 5 civilians - all women. "Every violation was appropriately responded to".
Further, the joint statement said that the APC applauded the "bravery and unwavering commitment of the armed forces of Pakistan for their befitting response to Indian aggression".
Inspector General BSF, Punjab Frontier Anil Paliwal earlier today said that an alert has been sounded on the border in the wake of the Baramulla attack and the following ceasefire violation in Poonch, assuring that the situation is under control.
The troops of India and Pakistan intermittently exchange fire on the 720 km-long LoC and 198 km International Border (IB) in Kashmir, despite an agreement in 2003 to observe a cease-fire.
On October 2, Pakistan resorted to firing and shelling from 19:15 hours along LoC in forward areas in Pallanwala belt of Jammu district. They said that the exchange took place in Iftikharabad, Nezapir and Kailer sectors on their side of the LoC.
The statement further said that the All Party Conference (APC) condemned "India's documented interference in Balochistan, a federating unit of sovereign Pakistan".
The military's media wing added, "As per rules of engagement same was strongly and befittingly responded by Pakistani troops".
Meanwhile, Jammu's DC said that all the schools in the border area of the district will reopen on Tuesday except those schools where the administration has set up shelter camps for the border migrants.
