EXTRA Incirlik airbase sealed off and power cut, US consulate says

Istanbul (dpa) - "Local authorities are denying movements on to and off of Incirlik Air Base. The power there has also been cut," the US Consulate in the southern Turkish city of Adana says on its website in a message to US citizens.
"Please avoid the air base until normal operations have been restored."
Incirlik is used as part of the US-led coalition against the Islamic State for its bombing campaign. A number of countries, including Germany, have soldiers at the base.
Aircraft in Turkey were hijacked by coup plotters during the overnight events and, according to government officials, used to attack key buildings, including parliament.
