  • More Evidence That Group Tied to Mumbai Attacks Provides Aid in Pakistan

As Pakistan’s government struggles to provide aid to about three million Pakistanis displaced by flooding, foreign correspondents continue to find evidence that the aid vacuum is being filled by militant Islamist groups, including one that is run by the founder of a banned militant group held responsible for the Mumbai terror attacks in 2008.
After reaching the northwestern town of Charsadda, Saeed Shah of The Guardian reported:
Jamaat-ud-Dawa, a hardline Islamist organization thought to be a front for Lashkar-e-Taiba, the group blamed for the 2008 assault on Mumbai, said it had 2,000 members working for flood relief across the north-west of the country and down into Punjab province.

With the government overwhelmed by the scale of the disaster, the worst flooding in Pakistan in at least 80 years, a gap has opened up for well-organized Islamic groups, mainstream and extremist.
Mr. Shah added, “Across the deluged northwest, locals complained bitterly that government help was almost entirely absent.”
Hajji Makbool Shah, a volunteer who said he was a member of Jamaat-ud-Dawa, told The Guardian. “If the government were doing this work, there would be no need for us.” He added: “When the floods came, we carried people out on our shoulders, to our own ambulances. Where were the government ambulances?”

Jonathan Miller of Britain’s Channel 4 News reported similar frustration in Nowshera, another northwestern town hit hard by the monsoon rains. Mr. Miller came across an Islamist charity distributing aid to residents, who said that their government and army had failed them. Mr. Miller also found a whole village of Afghan refugees who said that the television crew was the first group of outsiders they had seen in the week since their homes had been swept away.

According to Mr. Miller, Pakistanis are also angered by the fact that their president, Ali Asif Zardari, did not postpone the foreign trip they are calling his “European joyride.” On Friday Mr. Zardari is expected to meet with British Prime Minister David Cameron and object strongly to his remarks that Pakistan has not done enough to crack down on groups that “export terror” to countries like India and Afghanistan.

These Punjabi/Kashmiri Islamist Charties will exploit the situation and spread their propaghanda just as they did to the Swat IDPS.

A Friend of mine from Swat once told me that these group was running a IDP Camp of Pashtuns from Swat and they were sent back to fight for Jihad to Swat by these same Islamist Charities.

What will happen is, these Charities will exploit the situation, drag more pashtuns into the evil hands of Islamists who have destroyed the basic fabric of Pashtun Society, and then develop new groups and recruits to fight against India in Kashmir.

    Kind Regards

I dont think anybody should have a problem with org. like Jamat-ud-Dawa helping out during crisis situations. What should be curbed and checked are their efforts to use these situations to indoctrinate the youth.

Not to forget the 3000 Muslims killed by Hindu state sponsored terrorists in 2002.

You save two today and blow hundreds of them tomorrow in a single suicide attack. Not to forget how these banned militant outfits and the likes took advantage of the situation in 2005 earthquake and IDP's plight last year. It's the best time for them to come out like fat frogs would come out after the hibernation to eat all insects, or in this case to take maximum advantage for gaining the trust and support of victims.
They would never came out, otherwise.
"O Pakhtuns!, Your house has fallen into ruin, let us rebuild it".
"I want to see my people educated and enlightened. A people with a vision and a strong sense of justice, who can carve out a future for themselves in harmony with nature".

When the Kashmir Earthquakes happen, most of the aid given to them from British Pakistanis of Kashmiri origin was given to Lashkar E Tayba just like how its going to be used now.

Pakistan has destroyed itself by developing these militias of the faithful and giving them the chance to develop into a menance.

              Kind Regards

I am not a Hindu and neither do I want to start an Indo-Pak battle here, but could you substantiate what you mentioned in your post? Or I can just take it as just another rant. Fine by me.
