1. The Pakistanis are wary of Sunni-Shia conflict and do not want that to spread to Pakistan. There are many high-level influential Shias in Pakistan, though the Pakistan army patronizes anti-Shia Wahabi and Deobandi groups.

2. China ultimately has perhaps more influence on Pakistan than Saudi and China is the least visible member of the anti-western axis supporting Syria with Russia and Iran being far more visible. China is going to invest $50 billion in Pakistan in the next few years.

3. To be honest, nothing will come of this. The Saudis adore Pakistan and are in bed with them, quite literally as Nawaz Sharif's daughter is married to a senior Saudi prince.

There will be no major consequences for Pakistan. Saudis like to bully countries like Bangladesh but adore Pakistan.

Syrians are one of the best Muslims in Middle East. Unlike Pakis, even the christians and other religious minorities in Syria are better than your average paki.
