I don't care about Paris or France

Am I a bad person?

People die everyday, so what is important about France?

Forget Middle Eastern/Muslim countries, there are people killing each other in Africa every day. Why does the western world not focus on them? Because they are black? Because they have no resources that are necessary right now?

It seems like western intervention is very one-sided. And by that I mean the intervention is only convenient when the US or western world needs something.

What has happened in Syria is a small thing when compared to African republics. So all of a sudden, focus must go to Syria, because 100 frenchmen payed the price.

While on the other hand hundreds of thousands have gone through war, murder, and refugee status, but all people should only care about the french?

I do care about Paris for a number of reasons.

First of all, ISIS is trying to convince people that they represent Islam and Muslims. According to them, their actions are prescribed by Islam.

I know as a Muslim that they are wrong. If they present an inaccurate image of our religion, we do need to be concerned.

I also care about Paris because innocent people are killed. Wether they are Muslim or non Muslim, if they are not involved in any violence against Muslims, we shouldn't be harming them.

I also care about Paris because due to this stupid attack, more Muslims will die in Raqqa. France is bombing the city and killing many innocent people.

We should show concern. I agree that the outrage and outcry over French dead is disproportionate to the amount of atrocities suffered by others elsewhere in the world. We need to point out to this disproportionality.

But we shouldn't be disrespectful to their dead. They were not soldiers actively engaged in war against Muslims.
