Gender studies is like African American studies. Academia hijacked by ideology.

Oh I see. You are the kind of woman who finds no difference in herself and feminist cunts who genuinely believe feminism is about hating men. Yeah, you don't get to decide what is appropriate education for afghan women in Afghanistan. Go be a bimbo elsewhere.

On a totally different point, this is counterproductive and a waste of time. In a country where a woman is not allowed to walk down the street without being humiliated, gender studies won't take any woman anywhere. Men are not going to waste their time with this and women are already helpless. Knowing further what place society should be giving them instead of what they are being given is going to further disappoint them. The kind of an afghan woman who will pursue this degree already knows what her rights are. Teach her something that she can make a career out of. Something that empowers her, not a degree for what she knows she should be having but is not able to have.

A better alternative will be making gender equality studies a must subject for those attaining post secondary education in universities. At this point of time, men need to be educated on women's rights, not the other way around. I can't help but be reminded of that afghan woman that was chosen to be a judge by the president a couple of months ago and voted against in the parliament by the rest of the members and mostly because she was a woman and her job was painting her face, not deciding what is right or wrong and on that level. Ghani sepecifically nominated her because he wanted a woman to have that position. ( could have easily been a political move on his part but could have had positive influences on the rest of the society too..)

This is good. Women studies not only teach what the rights of women are. It also teaches how to do research on where the core problem is and how they can approach this. It can be really handy. Afghanistan needs this. This gives a scientific manner to tackle the problem.

These kids can't even get jobs with degree's in real fields, good luck trying to get a job with a feminism degree in Afghanistan.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.

You are wrong. A degree in feminism in Afghanistan means a job at a foreign sponsored NGO, an SUV, a house in Dubai and one in Turkey, a green card and lots of money.

All these so called human rights activists and civil society folks are amateurs. Once the get degrees in phony sciences, they will make even more money out of poor people's misery.

Perhaps, but since it is a 2 year program the opportunities of being a foreign asset dwindles when Afghanistan is a less and less issue in the west. Our country will be off the radar in a couple of years and these feminism majors will feel like art majors in the US.

Imagine having this degree back in the early 2000's when burka talk was all the rage, easily a 6 figure a year "consulting" job. Then again, you could of saved some time and went to the Paki diploma mill and purchased the paperwork of the expertise you wish you had.

You thinking is narrow. How long must Afghan women wait before the peace comes? They have waited more than 4 decades for Afghanistan to stabilize, but nothing happens, at least with this a basis can be made for the future. Every development on the basis of women rights is good and I see no problem in this, becuase I doubt it all will be so western like you claim it to be.

And by the way what is so wrong with western taoughts on women rights? I live in the west and women here are safe and free.
