  • US to stay in Afghanistan beyond 2011

US Defense Secretary Robert Gates says his country will keep a large number of its troops in Afghanistan even after President Barack Obama's 2011 deadline for starting troop withdrawal.
Despite mounting US casualties in the war-torn country, Gates said the US-led forces were making headway in the war.
"I think we need to re-emphasize the message that we are not leaving Afghanistan in July of 2011," Gates told ABC's This Week.
The remarks echoed those of US Vice President Joe Biden, who had earlier hinted that the number of American troops to be withdrawn from Afghanistan in 2011 would be as few as 2,000.
With 66 fatalities, July set the record as the deadliest month for American forces stationed in Afghanistan since the start of the war in 2001.
Gate, however, downplayed the number saying, "We have warned about this for months, that this summer would be very difficult for us. But I think there are tangible signs that this approach is working, this strategy is working."
Meanwhile, the Netherlands is withdrawing its troops from Afghanistan. The Dutch troops joined the US-led war in Afghanistan back in 2006.
The rising number of casualties has increased opposition to the Afghan war in the US and other European states.

No surprise. They haven't even left Japan and Germany.

I am pretty sure that no one bought that time-line.

It is very evident that NATO is not there to "rebuild."
Islam will prevail, a promise made by the Creator of this universe:

[61:8] They desire to extinguish the light of Allah with the breath of their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light, even if the disbelievers hate it.

[61:9] He it is Who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the Religion of truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religions, even if those who associate partners with God hate it.

Isn't it interesting how Germans don't complain with the presence of American troops on their very own soil? Imagine German troops in the U.S.A

A line[Durrand line] of hatred that raised a wall between the two brothers -Hamid Karzai

For generations, the Hindus of India prayed for deliverance from "the venom of the cobra, the teeth of the tiger and the vengeance of the Afghan."

The men of Kábul and Khilj also went home; and whenever they were questioned about the Musulmáns of the Kohistán (the mountains), and how matters stood there, they said, "Don't call it Kohistán, but Afghánistán; for there is nothing there but Afgháns and disturbances." Thus it is clear that for this reason the people of the country call their home in their own language Afghánistán, and themselves Afgháns. The people of India call them Patán; but the reason for this is not known. But it occurs to me, that when, under the rule of Muhammadan sovereigns, Musulmáns first came to the city of Patná, and dwelt there, the people of India (for that reason) called them Patáns—but God knows!

          Good point.

Afghans have no where to go, they should not resist. The Islam that is being preached by the Taliban is very toxic and poisonous.

          What other choice is there?

            Hi,

Do you mind elaborating the bold part? Thanks.

Today, there are many forms of Islam out there. The Taliban are preaching there form. Not only are they preaching it, but at one point were ruling by it.

Experience shows that their form of religion/government is not only inhumane but it goes against the essence of the Quran.

The most powerful message of the Quran--which all other religions lack--is: There is no compulsion in the matters of religion.

What the Taliban were doing was that they were shoving their beliefs down everyone's throat. People were following Islam by force. That is a clear contradiction of the Quran. Allah says in the Holy Quran to the Prophet (saw) that if Allah wanted He could have enforced religion on everyone, therefore, he (saw) should never do that.

The reason why Allah has never wanted to enforce religion on people on purpose is because it would go against the whole system of prayer. To follow a Being that is not visible is the whole challenge of life. If it were enforced on people it would contradict God Himself. Further, the reason why Allah would never force anyone upon religion is to show believers, that non-believers are just capable without following religion, because they have the exact same faculties. Therefore, it is Allah wish that believers surpass over non-believers by means of the Quran, but that they should know that they are not doing any favour upon Allah. It is not paradox, but a great system that Allah has created.

What the Taliban did was to handicap Muslims' the ability to think for themselves and to progress their society based on their own will. By enforcing religion and closing secular schools Taliban killed the potential of believers to contribute something in the name of Islam towards society. Further, it made people not only hate Allah, but religion as a whole. Allah has not created everyone believers. A mother can given birth to an angel or a devil.

When Dr. Abdus Salam won his Nobel Prize, he was asked how was he able to formulate his idea. He responded that it was the Quran that guided him. Mind you that there were two other Physicists that also won the same prize. It just goes to show that Allah has a parallel system going on. The only difference is that with one you are only limited to this world; whereas with the other you get both worlds. The only way to appreciate the one in which you are given both worlds is to be allowed to choose it with free-will.

My dear brother, if the Taliban were good then, Allah would have given them victory. This is a promise that Allah has made for those who fight in His way. The Prophet (saw) never lost a battle, let alone the war.
