Istanbul airport staff rough up Saudi family

DISTURBING: ‘Sada’ daily carried pictures showing bruises on the limbs, faces and other parts of the bodies of Saudi boys.

JEDDAH: The Saudi Consulate in Istanbul has swung into action following reports that a Saudi woman and her teenage sons were assaulted by security men at Istanbul airport.
The consulate said it contacted the head of the family, who is now in the Kingdom, and asked him to lodge a formal complaint at the embassy so that it could take necessary action.
He said the men assaulted his family after his wife stood by mistake in an area assigned for the handicapped. The officer shouted something in Turkish at them. He then came out of his office, pushed the wife in front of her children and attacked her 14-year-old son. Later, three other employees came and attacked the son with verbal insults.

When she tried to defend him, another group came (thus raising the number of attackers to seven), kicked the wife and children, beat the eldest son and choked him until he was about to die, the father said.
He said they (the Turkish attackers) handcuffed his wife and children, separated him from the children, and after a long wait took them to the police center.
The husband said the authorities put pressure on him not to file a complaint. Family members were released only after the intervention of Saudi Embassy after one-and-a-half days of detention and humiliation.
He said he was not allowed to see his sons despite attempts by the manager of the Saudia Airlines at the airport.
He said they handed over his family at the foreigner deportation section of the airport as if they were criminals and not tourists.
“When I saw my sons, I found that they had been beaten up and insulted. I don’t know why all this hatred for the Saudis.”
However, Turki Taha, an adviser to the Turkish premier, denied that police had beaten the woman.

Taha explained on his Twitter account that he went to the airport where he met with officials and the director of the airport police and was shown a video of the incident.

He said when the family approached the officer, he explained to them that the counter was for the handicapped. But, he said, the 21-year-old Saudi man insisted their passports be stamped there, ignoring the officer’s instructions to go to another counter.

The Saudi Embassy in Turkey is also following up on the case.

    Comment:

    - The marks seem to prove the Saudis were attacked.

    - A Pakistani (Baloch ethnicity) associate of mine visited Istanbul and despite having a passport of supposed "eternal brother/ally, Pakistan" he found the officials arrogant and obnoxious at the airport.

    - Another factor that probably fueled this attack is the deep anti-Arab racism in Turkey instilled in to Turks through the Kemalist education system, whereby Turks are taught from a young age to hate Arabs, to view them as "hainleri" (traitors), backwards and dirty.

    - Turks also have a gang mentality. They will always unite and join another Turk.

Erdogan and his regime need to remove the massive anti-Arab racism in Turkey and make it a less violent society e.g. something like 25% of Turkish hospital workers have complained of violence being carried out against them.

This is not an isolated incident, in another incident just a month ago.

Arab tourist beaten in Turkey for refusing to eat late order

An Arab tourist on vacation in the northwestern province of Bursa was hospitalized by a kebab shop staff after wanting to leave due to delay in order.

Arab tourist beaten in Turkey for refusing to eat late order

The incident took place in the northwestern province of Bursa on Sunday, when the Arab tourist went to the kebab shop to have famous Bursa (İskender) kebab—a kind of döner kebab prepared from thinly cut, grilled lamb basted with hot tomato sauce over pieces of pide bread and generously slathered with melted sheep butter and yogurt.

After the order took too long, the tourist refused to eat, but was verbally accosted by the kebab shop staff. Surprised over the language, he decided to leave the shop, but was attacked with sharp objects. After starting to run from the area, he was caught by the staff 15 meters from the shop and beaten sorely.

Passerby citizens intervened and called Turkey’s 112 Emergency Hotline. The tourist was rushed to the nearby hospital.

Police have launched an investigation into incident.

Turks gang up on outsiders and unite, however one brave Irish-man took on 20 Turks a few days earlier.

Irish-Kuwaiti ‘boxing’ tourist had surgery to repair skull fracture, Turkish reporter claims

      ISTANBUL

The Kuwait-born Irish tourist who was captured on video taking on a mob of 15 shopkeepers in Istanbul has undergone an operation to repair a skull fracture, a reporter for daily Habertürk has claimed.

Mohammed Fadel Dobbousi, who was declared a hero by Turkish social media users after footage emerged of him resisting the attack, had earlier said he was suffering multiple injuries caused by the attack.

Dobbousi sustained a broken arm and a cracked shoulder blade in the assault, while the assailant shopkeeper who he punched lost two of his teeth.

In a report published on Turkish news website T24, Habertürk reporter Kübra Par said she found out that Dobbousi had also suffered a skull fracture when she called regarding a planned interview.

“We scheduled an interview but we couldn’t meet because he had urgently been rushed to a hospital. I called his lawyer Gökhan Cindemir to learn about his condition. Cindemir confirmed the information and said Dobbousi’s skull fracture had only just been noticed,” Par reported.

Cindemir previously told Doğan News Agency that his client planned to prosecute his assailants.

“The incident is currently the subject of a criminal investigation. We are also studying it. It might be prosecuted over deliberately causing physical injury. When reviewed closely, we may even see that it goes all the way to attempted murder,” he said on Aug. 27.

He stopped by a local market to get some bottled water. Reaching into the fridge, he accidentally caused a number of the water bottles to fall out of the fridge and onto the pavement.

The shopkeeper shouted at him and even hit him with a stick of some kind, as can be seen by the security camera.

Then, as Ron Burgundy would say, things escalated quickly. Yep, they jumped up a notch:

As we see in the video, suddenly the Irish tourist is pushed out of the shop onto the street, and surrounded by at least a dozen locals, presumably other shopkeepers and local toughs. The locals close in, menacing, intimidating. One of them gets really close to strike. But unbeknownst to these locals, the Irish guy happens to be a professional boxer. Just as the nearest one throws a punch, our Irish lad steps back, avoiding the punch, then counters with a beautifully timed, crushing right hand that lands flush on the attacker’s jaw. You see the punch land, and the local, with a kind of hurt surprise, falls straight to the pavement.

The other attackers, seeing this punch, are forced back, with a measure of respect. But they quickly close in again. Our Irish lad, pumped up now, is on his toes, shoulders and fists raised. He wants more. He goes after the biggest of the lot, a black-bearded fellow who attempts a karate kick. The Irish boxer throws a kick in return, and they disappear off screen for a second. (While all this is going on, we see the first attacker, the one who got hit with the punch, slowly get up. He can hardly stand. He slowly walks off, stumbling here and there. He goes over to a wall and sits down, lost in something, as if pondering the existence of life on other planets, or his own existence on this planet.).

Our focus quickly shifts back to the Irish lad. He’s still at it. He wants more again. The mob seems to have grown. They want more too. They want a piece of this yabancı, and they want it badly. A local guy, wearing a black shirt, can also be seen in the background. Some of the other men have sticks, and the black-shirted guy is trying to hold them off, but someone else grabs him and forcibly moves him away, allowing the guys with the sticks (or bats? I’m not sure) to do their work. Others have plastic chairs, and they also go to work.

The Irish guy is vastly outnumbered, and the sticks and chairs shower down, though he seems to block most of the blows.

Then, with some urging (especially from the guy in the black T-shirt), the Irish tourist returns to his nearby hotel, only to re-emerge moments later, re-energenized. With a jog in his step, a shift of muscle in his powerful shoulders, he goes after his assailants again, again, and again.

Brave Irishman against lots of Turks.

            Turkish hospitality and kindness

I just want to make something clear. I am pro-Turkish and not anti-Turk, some of the best hospitality I have ever experienced in my life is from Turks and that was Istanbul Turks, inside Anatolia and the east they're even more hospitable and warmer. Many tourists go to Turkey and rave about how friendly, warm, people are.

Turkey is a beautiful country and nice to see.

Turks regard Bangladesh as a brother nation and an ally, when I told people in Turkey I was from Bangladesh they were happy and reacted warmly.

            Law and order problem

This is a law and order problem and should be dealt with properly. It doesn't help when the head of Turkey's 3rd biggest party, MHP (Greywolves) almost condones attacks on Korean tourists for instance.

Koreans and Chinese 'both have slanted eyes,’ Turkey’s nationalist leader says over attacks on tourists

            Ahmet Hakan

Remarks by Bahçeli (R) stirred a heated debate as some social media users sarcastically shared pictures to guide Turkish nationalists in recognizing the facial features of various Asian countries. The MHP leader also pointed out the ‘minor difference’ between his party's Grey Wolf gesture and the rock-on sign. Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu (L), now an MHP deputy, was left red-faced after mistaking the signs when he was nominated by the party in April.

Turkey probes attack on Koreans, China rules out Uighur discrimination

VIDEO: Turkish nationalists protesting China attack Korean tourists in Istanbul

Istanbul Chinese restaurant attacked in protest at Uighur suppression

The head of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has raised some eyebrows by saying both Chinese and Koreans "have slanted eyes" while touching on attacks on Chinese people in Turkey to protest the alleged abuse of Uighurs in Xinjiang/East Turkestan.

“These are young people,” the MHP chair Devlet Bahçeli said in an interview to daily Hürriyet, playing down the recent ultranationalist attacks on Asian tourists.

“Some can pull these young people and they may follow them. Moreover, what is the difference between a Korean and a Chinese? They both have slanted eyes,” he added.

Bahçeli’s remarks stirred a heated debate on Turkish social media on July 8 with some commentators claiming that they amounted to racism, while others sarcastically shared pictures to guide Turks in recognizing the facial features of various Asian countries.

            Misguided attacks

Istanbul police launched an investigation after a MHP-linked youth organization reportedly attacked a group of Korean tourists in Sultanahmet Square on July 4, following a march to protest China’s restrictions on the religious freedom of ethnic Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang.

Three days before the attack, a Chinese restaurant in Istanbul was vandalized by ultranationalists, although its owner was a Turk and its cook was an Uighur.

On July 6, Beijing denied having “ethnic problems” in its far west and stated its Muslim Uighur minorities there “enjoyed” freedom of religion, in response to Turkish Foreign Ministry’s June 30 statement, which had expressed “deep concern” about reports that a fasting ban was imposed in China’s autonomous Xinjiang region.

In recent days, a number of pictures depicting massacres and serious human rights abuses have been circulating on the internet, purportedly showing Han Chinese oppression against the Uighurs. Many of the pictures, however, have been taken out of context and are not from Xinjiang.

Grey Wolf gesture versus ‘Rock-on’ sign

“It is easy to provoke a few people,” Bahçeli (L) said in the interview, refusing to condemn the recent wave of ultranationalist attacks in Turkey.

Insisting on the difficulty of distinguishing between small differences, he gave an example from music beside the racial one. “For instance, the Grey Wolf gesture [of Turkish nationalists] is very similar to the heavy metal gesture. There is a small difference between two,” he said.

While Bahçeli dismissed the rising anti-Chinese sentiments in Turkey, MHP-linked groups have now begun openly printing death threats against the Chinese. “We crave Chinese blood,” said a banner hung in a building where the MHP-linked youth organization “Idealist Hearths” (Ülkü Ocakları) is headquartered in Istanbul’s Kemalpaşa neighborhood on July 7.

The same banner was hung on the building of “Alperen Hearths,” a youth organization linked to the nationalist Great Union Party (BBP), in the Ataşehir neighborhood of Istanbul.

As anti-China protests spread around Turkey, Beijing issued a travel warning to its citizens on July 7, stressing that some tourists had been “attacked and harassed.”

The head of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has raised some eyebrows by saying both Chinese and Koreans "have slanted eyes" while touching on attacks on Chinese people in Turkey to protest the alleged abuse of Uighurs in Xinjiang/East Turkestan.

Anyway the truth is, though many on here (brainwashed by the "free" and "ever truthful" western media) is that Bahceli is basically an undercover Turkish intelligence officer (MIT) and thus a NATO operative. He justified the unjustifiable as part of America's campaign of intimidation against China.

However let's leave that aside and believe the mainstream media that he is just simply a normal civilian who is the head of Turkey's 3rd biggest party. Is this sort of behaviour virtually condoning if not almost encouraging these attacks acceptable?

Arabs have always traveled to Turkey for tourism, I doubt this is some institutionalized racism against Arabs.
There are people today who think that admitting God’s absolute greatness decreases the value and importance of humans in the creation, as if God and mankind are rivals competing in greatness and power. Meanwhile I feel that whenever our perception of God’s greatness increases, with it we become greater, because we are the creation of a great God.
