Ethopian Israelis protest in Tel Aviv against police brutality and racism

Thousands of Ethopian Israelis have protested in Tel Aviv against racism and police brutality.

The rally was sparked after footage emerged purporting to show an Ethiopian Israeli in an army uniform being beaten by police.


Ethopians have been banned from donating blood in Israel .. and the country’s health ministry has investigated claims that women were given birth-control injections without their knowledge or consent.

“Why aren’t we allowed to have a good life?,” asked one demonstrator. “If we are okay this will mean that the Israeli people will be ok too.”

Demonstrators chanted “Violent police officers belong in jail,” and “not black and not white, we are all people.”

Police deployed officers on horseback and used stun grenades to try and control the crowds in central Tel Aviv.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he will meet later today with representatives of the Ethopian community as well was the beaten solider.

1. Israel is a racist society where white western/northern European Jews dominate then lower down it is the Sephardim, middle eastern Jews and at the bottom black Jews.

2. This is not a "Jewish" or "Israeli" thing it is a human thing as the Arabs also treat black Arabs badly and as second class citizens.


However the thing is Israel and lots of Jews have monopolized "victimhood" status due to the holocaust (in which many ethnic groups died, with Russians being the biggest victims of the second world war) and the whole world is expected to feel sorrow for them or even be apologetic to them, in other words they have elevated themselves on to some sort of pedestal.

They are far from a bastion of morality and are in fact a racist state and society.

Having said that however I do not conform to the anti-Semitism that many Muslims have.

There are many nice Israeli people out there who are better than Palestinians, and there are also some ok Palestinians out there. Human beings are human beings.

Bengal-Tiger agree with you on both points. And you are absolutely right when you say one must not generalize about a whole group. Personally, I have met many Hindus, Jews, Christians, Chinese, Blacks, Whites, etc. and have wondered what is it that is so distinctive and undesirable about being from one race or religion or another.

Frankly speaking to me being a Pashtun doesn't matter much apart from the fact as a part of humanity, one has to defend their genuine rights.

Nevertheless, I have thought a lot about this race issue and have reached the conclusion in my own limited way that a people should strive to reach a higher level of civilizational development and creativity in order to feel confidence in themselves.

That's why so many Turks are infatuated by Ataturk and his men; they 'saved' the Turks. Only a tiny fraction of Orthodox Jews deny Israel's right to exist. The vast majority is extremely pro-Israel and label every criticism of Israel as the new-antisemitism.

Most of the people certainly do not look orthodox. The fact of the matter is that although the majority in Israel is secular, decades of state funded and propagated nationalistic propaganda has resulted in the creation of an extremely nationalistic and chauvinistic people: the Israelis. Look at the recent election results. Natanyahu won, even though a couple of days before the elections he urged the public to go out and vote for him because 'the Arabs are coming in buses to the polling stations'. And what did the Israeli public do? Punish him for his racist rhetoric? No. They voted him back in office. Israel is becoming a lunatic state. In a way, you could see that as integration in the region I suppose. It's becoming more and more like its neighbors.
