  • UAE warns Pakistan of ‘heavy price for ambiguous stand’ on Yemen

KARACHI: Pakistani lawmakers’ call for the government to remain neutral on the escalating crisis in Yemen has evoked a strong response from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“The vague and contradictory stands of Pakistan and Turkey are an absolute proof that Arab security — from Libya to Yemen — is the responsibility of none but Arab countries,” UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash said.

Speaking to renowned Emirati newspaper Khaleej Times, Garhash warned Pakistan of having to pay a “heavy price” for taking on what he called an “ambiguous stand”. He added that Pakistan should take a clear position “in favour of its strategic relations with the six-nation Arab Gulf cooperation Council”.

“The Arabian Gulf is in a dangerous confrontation, its strategic security is on the edge, and the moment of truth distinguishes between the real ally and the ally of media and statements,” Gargash tweeted moments after the Pakistani parliament passed the resolution insisting on neutrality in the Yemen conflict.

Gargash went to symbolise Pakistan’s resolution as equivalent of siding up with Iran instead of the Gulf. “Tehran seems to be more important to Islamabad and Ankara than the Gulf countries,” Gargash said.

“Though our economic and investment assets are inevitable, political support is missing at critical moments,” he added.

The statement comes a day after the Parliament passed a unanimous resolution vowing to defend Saudi Arabia’s territorial integrity and the holy places of Makkah and Madinah. None of these locations appear to have so far been threatened by the conflict.

More on this: Not our war

“Pakistan should play a mediating role and not get involved in the fighting in Yemen,” the resolution stated, adding that “the Parliament of Pakistan ... underscores the need for continued efforts by the government of Pakistan to find a peaceful resolution of the crisis”.

“[Parliament] desires that Pakistan should maintain neutrality in the Yemen conflict so as to be able to play a proactive diplomatic role to end the crisis,” it stated.

The Saudi-led coalition launched air strikes against Houthi rebels on March 26 in support of Yemeni President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi after they seized the capital and forced him to flee to Aden. The government of Pakistan has so far not announced a decision on Saudi Arabia’s request for Islamabad to join a coalition fighting Houthi rebels by contributing jets, navy ships and ground troops

UAE didn't warn Pakistan, but some unimportant men from UAE warned Pakistan. There is difference between official warning and some random retard warning. Anyway I think Pakistan should only join if things get out of hand. Plus its fooking pathetic these arabs with weapons which are many generations ahead of Pakistan can't deploy troops to fight terrorists.

as proud as i feel for pakistan telling off the Gulf sheikhs, i fear that the billions of dollars in aid and investmen will be taken back and and the millions of pakistanis from all walks of life making a living much better than in pakistan will be deported, this is huge risk for pakistan, and arabs will be so pissed they will start funding and supporting baloch rebels against us and support more extremist terrorists, + our economy will crash and we will be isolated. Iran can't give us anything, they have nothing, they will drag us into the abyss with them

This can hit hard not only to rich Pakistanis but also poor ones basically everyone. UAE for exemple has been developing many hospitals/schools in FATA with help of Pakistan army. Though I doubt they will deport Pakistanis.

Brave decision I most say but hopefully they know what they are doing. And if gulf countries expect Pakistan to deploy troops when ever they ask then they need to do much more then just employing Pakistanis.

There are more Indians then Pakistanis in gulf countries, will India send troops? Iran after so called revolution have never supported Pakistan, neither financially or politically.

Not all Pakistanis, Karachi. Only Punjabis. But they are slaves of every power if paid for services. This is "for-rent" mentality.

Baluch are not rebels moron; they are freedom fighters. Now it is time that all that have been bitten by the snake that Punjab is pay it in the same coin. Furthermore the coastline communities have more to do with Arabs across the Persian Gulf and with Iranis than with Indic Punjabis.

But General Riyal Sharif as his predecessor will succumb to higher offer from the Arabs.

slaves? You are living in Canada yet have audacity to insult country like Pakistan which helped your haramkhor family in time of need. Pakistanis in gulf countries are working and sending back money to poor families for the most part. Plus as I said UAE is funding many projects in FATA which ultimately help poor Pakistanis.

If you want to see slaves then come back to Pakistan and I will show you Afghanis here and then you will get idea what being slave actually mean.

Punjabis are raising their price; nothing else. In history they have loyally served two things; (1) the stronger whom they can feel great about to serve --British are an example (2) the more wealthy--who can rent them. Saudis and Chinese are the examples here.

Good if they can make a offer which Pakistanis can't refuse then win win for both sides. And I already told you kammi/kamen people talking about serving someone is crime against nature.

Moron race is nothing. It is your inferiority complex as a Punjabi. Who can verify your gene or what particular gene do your share with Arabs or for that matter Pashtun until you speak their language.

It is culture and values that matter. Arabs themselves are a diverse people looks-wise but is considered one community on the basis of the common language they speak and the values and the consciousness of a common identity.

Go release you Ranjit Singhi "S.h.i.t." somewhere else instead here.
