Apart from preventing a Houthi takeover of Aden, the Saudis have achieved nothing after less than 2 months of aerial bombing.

There are Iranian claims that the Houthis have captured Saudi border positions.

However the Saudi city of Najran is under Houthi rocket fire.

Yemeni troops have crossed the Saudi border and entered Saudi territory.

This is intrusion in to the territory of a sovereign nation and member of the United Nations, Saudi Arabia.

      - Bangladesh, Indonesia, Algeria all need to have their navies and armies on a state of red alert.

      - Bangladesh should immediately thinking of sending at least 10,000 soldiers to Saudi.

      - The Saudis need to listen to the Algerians and Indonesians and sit down on the negotiating table and have Ali Abdullah Saleh as interim president of Yemen and Hadi as his no.2

      Negotiations are the only way.

The answer lies with the Algerians, Riyadh and Sana'a must look to the Algerians to resolve this crisis.

The Muslim world is putting its hopes in Algeria.

The Saudis unofficially have troops in Aden and the Saudi-led coalition have prevented a Houthi take over of Aden, Yemen's second city.

          Saudi special forces in Aden.

Alleged UAE army vehicle in Aden.

The madness in Yemen is continuing. The Saudis are bombing Yemen to pieces and killing lots of people. The Iranians are also backing their proxies, the Houthis and also damaging the country.

The people of Yemen need peace.

The only solution is a political, democratic one and not violence.

Saudi Arabia has shown Iran however that there is only so far it can go before Saudi Arabia and the GCC will react and react massively as the Yemen campaign has shown, with months and months of continuous bombing.

GCC has "invaded" Aden, i.e. sent a military force to capture the city.

Saudi and UAE forces are reportedly involved.

            Claims of 3,000 UAE-led forces:

American made Abrams tanks owned by the Saudis reportedly rolling through Aden in southern Yemen.

Saudi special forces in Aden, southern Yemen.

The man in the black T-shirt above has "Al Akhbariya" (meaning "of the news") written in Arabic with the Saudi national logo and making a heart shape with his fingers between the word "Aden" in Arabic.

Saudi Arabia has taken control of Yemen's 2nd city, capital of the south, Aden.

asad71 Saudis are far more competent and capable than most people thought, having the ability to manage an air campaign of many months without any major loss of planes, and now taking the 2nd city of a nation of over 20 million with special forces, as well as putting tanks in this city via the sea.

            Impressive!

            - Saudi Arabia and the GCC control the skies and seas of Yemen.

            - Saudi Arabia has defeated Iran in Yemen.....for now.

1.Late Gen Ziaur Rahman had tried his level best, till he was assassinated, to stop the Iran-Iraq fratricide. Although people of the country would very much like to see an end to this fighting, unfortunately we lack a leader of character and acceptability to take such initiative.

              2. If eventually a peace keeping force is sent BD would be the ideal choice to send the max troops.

                1. As a major Muslim nation and 5th biggest nation in Asia after the likes of China, India, Indonesia and so forth, Bangladesh may have to play a major role in a fellow Muslim and Asian state, Yemen.

a: Help to keep the peace there.

b: Help to rebuild the country e.g. BRAC as in Afghanistan.

                2. The Arabs should stop fighting and killing one another in this region and should try and agree to some sort of peace or at least cessation of fighting.

You are right. But just now it is doubtful that we can take important decisions freely without Delhi's nod.

                    1. Bangladesh is an independent state, just because India-haters (Pakistan supporters) want us to have a cold war or even actual war with India does not make us an Indian satellite state.

The Bangladeshi position on the Yemen crisis which is one of complete and unconditional support for the Saudis has nothing to do with India (which has a more neutral/indifferent policy) but one based around Bangladeshi needs of keeping the gulf states who have up to perhaps 4 million Bangladeshi workers happy.

                    2. We definitely do need a more nationalistic and assertive leadership though e.g. on the Rohingya issue, combatting Pakistani destabilization of the country, promoting Bangladesh to the rest of the Muslim bloc etc. Yes.

Into The Cauldron - Saudi And UAE Troops Invade Yemen

While many "western" media missed it, we reported that one brigade of regular United Arab Emirate troops invaded Yemen through the port of Aden. Videos from Yemen show large columns of French build Leclerc tanks and other modern UAE equipment. The Saudi and UAE spokesperson declared that they only brought equipment for Yemenis but that can not be true. The tanks will certainly be operated by people with the necessary extensive training on these expensive high tech vehicles, not with fresh off the street recruits with a few weeks of basic training.

After taking Aden the UAE military, some Yemeni infantry forces trained over the last months outside the country and some local southern separatist groups moved north and attacked the Al Anad airbase held by the Houthi militia and parts of the Yemeni army loyal to former president Saleh. After only a few short skirmishes the Houthi retreated and the UAE troops moved into the base. They then moved further north towards Taiz.

But the UAE military is not the only force invading Yemen.

With again few mentions in the media a Saudi brigade invaded Yemen from the north and moved from Sharoah in Saudi Arabia to AlAbr District and from there west towards Marib:

"Dozens of tanks, armoured vehicles and personnel carriers, as well as hundreds of Yemeni soldiers trained in Saudi Arabia, arrived in Yemen overnight" via the Wadia border post in the north of the country, a Yemeni military source told AFP.
I guestimate that the Saudi unit is likely to be about the same size as the UAE one. Each has about one regular mechanized brigade of some 3,000 to 4,000 troops with several battalions of freshly trained Yemeni infantry troops and local mercenaries attached to it.

The strategic target of this two-pronged attack is the capitol Sanaa currently held by the Houthi. They are to be pushed back north into their home province Sadah.

For the invading force the easy part is over. This will now be literally an uphill battle. The capitol and the approaches the Saudi and UAE military will have to take are mountainous. The roads there are easy to block and in such confined space, as the Israelis learned in Lebanon 2006, huge main battle tanks are simply sitting ducks to be killed by small anti-tank teams.

There is also an unknown factor in the form of AlQaeda in the Arab Peninsula which rules disguised as "Sons of Hadramaut" that eastern province and the harbor city Mukalla. AQAP just expressed its comfort with Yemeni culture and religion by blowing up a 700 year old mosque in the area.

Some months ago AQAP received weapons from Saudi Arabia to hold up the Houthis but its loyalty towards the Saudis and UAE is very dubious. There are confirmed reports that AQAP has taken over some towns near to Aden and now rumors that AQAP has a presence in Aden and wants to take that big harbor city. Will the UAE troops be comfortable with an uncontrollable AQAP sitting right on their main supply line?

The Wadia border station the Saudis used to cross into Yemen is also not safe. About a year ago two Saudi soldiers were killed there when some AQAP types attacked from Yemen.

There are also Islamic State forces in Yemen and an ISIS aligned group in Saudi Arabia took credit for yesterday's suicide bombing which killed some 17 Saudi security personal in Abha near the border with Yemen.

The troops invading Yemen will not only have to watch out for Houthi traps and ambushes when they move up into the mountains towards Sanaa. They will also have to intensively watch their backs. Has the "young general", as the Saudi Minister of Defense is mocked now, any idea of the cauldron his troops are getting into?

                        1. The Saudis have surprised me and proved there many naysayers and critics wrong.

Many, including Pakistani nationalists mocked them and said they would never send troops inside Yemen.

Not only have they just done precisely that but they have done it from both the north and the south.

                        2. This invasion of Yemen by Saudi and the UAE demonstrates to the world that the Saudi-UAE led GCC consider Yemen as their sphere of influence and will not anyone (i.e. Iran) wrest it from them.

                        3. The question now however is this Saudi entry in to Yemen precisely what the Iranians their Houthi surrogates wanted?

Will the Saudis get trapped inside Yemen?

Or will their force get to Sana'a itself and install a Saudi-backed Yemeni government?

Although a place where the old Islamic architecture meets the new and the city provides a sneak peek into the past, the place is still considered to be one of the worst in the world. This is because child brides are taken by old men, and the place has been used by Al-Qaeda to train the militants. Men walk with weapons in the streets, as they see it to be their religious right. Though beautiful, the place is quite tragic.
