Are you talking about the theocratic rule of Saudi. It is an interesting article. It seems as though it does have something to do with it but the author does point out of the different traditions and history of education in the two countries. Iran did have a history of secular education and it seems that the mullahs did not interfere with it where the Saudi was a brand new nation who went through urbanization much later from a mostly nomadic population.

Aren't Herati Shia Qazalbash. Qazalbash are not Tajik, they are Turk.Originally posted by Herat View PostBy the way Awghan dog, this is coming late (I have never mentioned it in this forum before since I suspected you Awghan patriots would reject me as a representative of Tajik interests) but perhaps I should reveal that my family back home took refuge in Iran and not in your craphole in Pakistan, and they don't seem to be complaining much. But then again, my family are Shia (I myself am an atheist, dont believe in fairy tales), you see, we really are native Heratis -Persian Shiites. In fact, my family in Iran have settled there and don't really give a rats arse about Awghanistan anymore but I personally identify with the Tajiks and will be with them till death.

Honestly I have to say congratulations to Iran, this is a woman who was schooled in Iran, did university in Iran, and was sent over to America on scholarship to further her studies there and look what she made of herself. She certainly has more ghairat than most afghans whether pashtun, tajik, hazara, uzbek or whatever that I've heard of. In kabul if a woman is dressed like how women dress in Iran they get harassed either by men asking them to come with them or men telling them to stop being *****s - our reality is a sad one.
I can confirm, he's told me he's a shia from Herat.Originally posted by Herat View PostOh I did mention it to that 75Pashtun25Tajik guy in an email some time back, you can ask him to verify that if you want. You know little about Herat you moron, the native Tajiks there, especially the village folk near the border, are literally indistinguishable from the Iranians across the border just as you Pashtuns are indistinguishable near your border. Hehehe, yeah you're right, Ill be burning in hell while you **** those 72 virgins, see thats why I can't take your religion seriously as anything but a group evolutionary dynamic.
And lol, Herat, the other day I was at a park with some friends and overheard some iranians on a picnic table next to us, the conversation got to being about looks, they were talking about how some people say iranians look like arabs and eventually one of them said he met an afghan who kept saying he was a persian, needless to say they all started laughing like hyenas. As I've told you before, the mentality of virtually every iranian, specifically persians is that even if you're from herat you're afghan. There's a reason why tajiks in Iran call themselves afghan and not 'persian' you know. It's honestly an embarassmant to all the tajiks I know that dislike iran and iranians to see you calling yourself persian here.

The men in Tehran do the same and that's pretty common all over the world, even here in the states men sexually harass women all the time. Your suffering from an inferiority complex. They have convinced you that you come from a savage ethnic group while in reality humanity is not that much different.Originally posted by 25tajik75pashtun View PostHonestly I have to say congratulations to Iran, this is a woman who was schooled in Iran, did university in Iran, and was sent over to America on scholarship to further her studies there and look what she made of herself. the grass is never greener on the other side. there is resistance in iran for which you have to admire them where in afghanistan, women have become sheep.Last edited by DaZahroJaam.; 08-16-2014, 05:05 PM.

Recognizing that Iran is a few centuries ahead of us, and most of the muslim world in terms of respect towards women isn't exactly suffering from an inferiority complex. Sure they may also get harassed but think of it this way, if women dressed like iranian youth in kabul, perhaps the most liberal and western thinking of areas in afghanistan and get treated like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaaLoFHzqCo it really says a lot about the mentality of the country as a whole.Originally posted by khushal View PostThe men in Tehran do the same and that's pretty common all over the world, even here in the states men sexually harass women all the time. And believe me, I don't believe any ethnic group is savage since in my opinion how one acts when they are older is most influenced by how the parents raise the child and the cliques into which the child associates with while growing up. I also recognize that afghanistan and it's natives have been under the duress of war for 40 years now and that progress cannot be made when the most basic instinct is just to survive.

My fathers family trace their lineage to a rural area near the border in the North-West of Herat province, we still have distant relatives there that we very occasionally contact. As Ive said, Heratis near the border with Iran (in the western most part of the province) are Persian Shiites; Sunni Tajiks live in the eastern part of the province (and Pashtuns inhabit the southern part). Qizilbash only inhabit the urban centres of Afghanistan; they are amusingly stereotyped (at least among the Tajik Shia) as being ethnocentric -you see they tend to self-identify as "Qizilbash", keep detailed genealogies and generally not marry other Shia Tajik.Originally posted by khushal View PostAren't Herati Shia Qazalbash. Most Herati Persians are most definitely not "Tajiks. They are actually the only true Persians in Afghanistan unlike the fake tajik persian wannabe's. In fact, most native heratis would take offense if you called them a "tajik" but they fit more under the "Farsiwan" demonym.
"Tajik" is a linguistic label, not an ethnic one."Revenge is a dish best served cold".
