‘Pak Army wants to keep Kashmir issue alive’
— By FPJ Bureau, May 30, 2014 12:06 am
Author Christine Fair in her latest book says, India can only hope for status quo as Pak army would continue to derail the peace process
Washington : Pakistan’s Army does not want the Kashmir issue to be resolved as this would pose a serious challenge to their existence and their dominance in the country’s political set up, a noted American scholar has said.
“They (Pakistan Army) are not going to do a settlement on Kashmir. Why would the Army allow a process to go forward that would obviate its own politics? I think that the best that India can hope for is some version of the status quo,” said C Christine Fair, author of the ‘Fighting to the End: The Pakistan Army’s Way of War’.
Fair warned that the Pakistan Army would again try to scuttle the renewed peace initiative between the two South Asian neighbours, reflected in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation to his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif to attend his swearing in ceremony; following which the two leaders had their first bilateral dialogue.
“The (Pakistan) Army would undercut him (Sharif)… all they have to do is to have a Lashkar-e-Taiba attack… opportunity for spoilers,” Fair told a Washington audience yesterday at the formal launch of her book organised by the Hudson Institute, an eminent American think-tank. “I really do not expect much out of it (Modi-Sharif peace initiative).
The attack on the Indian Consulate in Herat, which was very likely done by Lashkar-e-Taiba or Haqqani network, is a really good testing of those waters,” said Fair, who is Assistant Professor in the Security Studies at Georgetown University. Agreed Husain Haqqani, the former Pakistan Ambassador to the US.
“Nawaz Sharif genuinely wants an opening of economic relationship with India. But does he really want to take on the business of shutting down the jihadi groups, there is no sign thereof so far,”
he said.
In her book, Fair writes Pakistan’s conflict with India cannot be reduced simply to resolving the Kashmir dispute. “Its problems with India are much more capacious than the territorial conflict over Kashmir.”

she seems like a neo-con nutjub that loathes Pakistan, i'm not really surprised to hear that from her.
I have family members in the army and the highest ranking one is a Brigadier, and i can tell you that they ALL want the Kashmir conflict to be resolved."I bow to no one, except ALLAH. I dont bow to punjabay, do not bow to kabulay and afghanay, do not bow to faujay and mullay, do not bow to asfandyarwalay and petty khanays...i am traitor to all of them." - Smartay

All Afghans and Baloch should watch this in full. It is what everybody knows but is presented very well. Finally even these Americans are waking up to the reality of napakistan and calling out this impure, diseased, British invented state.Originally posted by Friends of Baloch View PostLong Live Baloch Freedom Struggle Until Victory!

For me, both Afganistan and Pakistan or any other Islamic country is the same.. My love or affection or respect is the same as we - as Muslim- believe we're ummah.. I'm not from Pakistan or Afganistan..Originally posted by Friends of Baloch View Post

But Do you really believe that Americans say something true especially about a Muslim country or nation?
I mean how can you believe American politicians sincerity? I really wonder..
AS FAR AS, I know the country which invade Afganistan is USA?
and other Islamic countries too.. Isn't it so?

According to Afghans, Pakistan is bad and they are saints. Not sure of it's the psychological disorder of being a war torn nation for almost a 3 centuries.Originally posted by the mute View PostFor me, both Afganistan and Pakistan or any other Islamic country is the same.. The Afghan society today is so polarized that some of them consider Pakistanis brothers, while the other half consider us enemies. One half is hell bent on the destruction of Pakistan, while the other half wants support from us.Originally posted by the mute View PostI didn't understand what exactly you meant..

ANA and current Afghan government wants to make friends with any nation that could and potentially would hurt Pakistan.
To be honest, it's a complicated mess. Ordinary Pakistani people consider Afghans as their own people, while expat Afghans have some sort of vendetta against our nation.
Afghans consider Hindu India as their brothers because they provide them weapons to attack Pakistan, while Pakistanis consider Afghans as muslim brothers that have undergone decades of war.
Pakistan is the nation that has hosted the most refugees on Earth, but the people we have hosted are against us. India did not open it's borders for Afghans. Iran opened it's borders for Afghans but quickly put them in concentration camps.
Pakistan opened it borders for Afghans and immiediately gave them citizenship and opportunity to have businesses. Yet Afghans are the most venomous towards Pakistan.

Being polarized is in every country - to some extent..
If I think Turkey, not half, some group think Arabs as traitor (because of Ottoman's collapse) most of them not..
Of course it's far different the case in Afganistan, I know..
But as muslims, I wish we wouldn't forget that we are ummah.. everybody, every nation would remmeber it..
Afgan's government desire to make friends with nations that can hurt Pakistan is so crude and against Islam, against brothership...
As you said will Indians be a better friend? We have to see that what Indians are doing against Muslims in their country..
And I do not believe that any country which is not Muslim can be helpful to a Muslim country..
I know that Pakistan is hospitable.. (Probably Afganistan is so too)..
You host the people, opened your country, maybe rescue them from being killed.. but they still think you're enemy..
Yeah I know this too as we have more and more refugees from Syria..
And I can imagine how it (unfaithfulness) sadden, hurt or offend host country and its people
You know, what I want to say is that whatever governments policy is, whatever they do, we - as people, citizen- SHOULD NOT forget we are ummah and we do not have any brother except from ourselves (Muslims)
..
I'm also in Pakistan websites, forums..
Upon my word, I have never seen even a word against Afganistan.. not any bad, hostile, unfriendly word.. So to tell the truth, I got surprised hearing those here..
But anyway I love Pakistan.. Afganistan tooLast edited by the mute; 06-02-2014, 06:30 AM.

First watch the video in its entirety before you say something. You have just made yourself look like a complete fool because you have tried to talk about something you know nothing about.
Dont be a coward. Watch all of it, listen to it carefully, and you will get your answers.
