    Imran Khan slams Punjab-centric policies

Express News screen grab of Imran Khan from the press conference.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday slammed the government’s Punjab-centric policies, Express News reported.

The PTI chief said North Waziristan is being treated as though it is not a part of Pakistan. “People from North Waziristan are calling me up every day and complaining that they don’t feel at home in Pakistan,” the PTI chief said.
“The IDPs are heading to Afghanistan now,” he added.
Imran was addressing a press conference in Islamabad.

Furthermore, Imran compared people living in Balochistan to those living in East Pakistan before separation.
“When I went to play cricket in the under-19 category before the military operations in East Pakistan, I was told by the people there that they are being treated as a separate colony,” he said.

The PTI chief went on to complain about the rigging in the 2013 elections and added that all investment is going towards Punjab while other provinces are being ignored.

“It looks like Punjab is Pakistan,” he said.

    1. Imran Khan is not perfect, but I respect him for what he is saying (if he is sincere).

He is essentially saying to Pakistanis/Punjabis:

"WAKE UP, YOUR COUNTRY IS ON FIRE....IT COULD BREAK UP".

    2. He has openly raised the issue of Punjabi domination of Pakistan and unfair treatment of other provinces.

    3. He has also (not in the article above but from other articles) spoken of addressing the Pakistani army chief over the Waziristan crisis.

I just hope the ISI don't kill him.

If Pakistan does break up, no one can blame Imran Khan as he spoke up for the rights of Baloch and Waziris.

Pakistan is clearly even more divided than Afghanistan. It seems to me that Pakistan eventually will break among its major ethnic lines.

ISI won't kill him, they aren't crazy and Imran Khan is pro-army but besides that he also cares about the people more than the institutions.

Idk really agree with Imran Khan even though i voted for him; i think the Pak army need to root out all terror groups from our soil but we obviously can't innocent people either, however at the same time the taliban is killing innocent people all over Pakistan, so it's a catch 22 situation(we're damned either way).

On the bright side, America has halted drone strikes on Pakistan
Since his speech one year ago, Obama has essentially halted the drone war in Pakistan and made some progress toward closing Guantanamo, says Peter Bergen.

Pakistan is actually just as united as afghanistan is if not more, if both countries disintegrate,it would happen simultaneously.

It is corrupt politicians that cause Pakistan to break up....

              No surprise here,

Pakistan has had ethnic tensions ever since the day it was created. The brits originally created it for Indian Muslims, not Pashtuns and not Balochi's which is why i see a partition inevitable in the future. Pakistan will not only rot from within but from outside pressure as well since the Afghan government has problems with ISI terrorism interfering in the country's politics and from America, who its relationship has deteriorated ever since OBL was found in killed in pakistan.

              Only a matter of time!

i doubt that would happen because critics of Pakistan have been predicting it's collapse before it was even created, there are ethnic tensions in almost every multi-ethnic country including India and Afghanistan, so the disintegration isn't going to be good for the unity of India and Afghanistan; like many experts such Pervez Hoodbhoy have said before: Pakistan is too big fail., the outcome won't be pretty.

                  1. Imran Khan is a Pakistani nationalist.

For many years he shed sweat on the cricket pitch for Pakistan and won them the world cup. He could have retired as a wealthy millionaire but went back to Pakistan and started hospitals and found that the lack of health care was symptomatic of wider socio-political problems thus got involved in the dangerous world of Pakistani politics where people can be killed e.g. Benazir Bhutto.

                  2. His party is a pan-Pakistani nationalist party and he himself is a Punjabi though with Pashtun/"Pathan" roots.

Being a nationalist party it however does not glorify in militarism, chauvinism and other things and has spoken out over human rights abuses in Balochistan.

Imran Khan was speaking about Waziristan around even a decade ago.

                  3. The fact that the leader of a Pakistani nationalist party is himself saying that Pakistan is dominated by Punjabis shows that all those who claimed that the "Punjab domination theory" was false, was a lie promoted by the evil Hindu RAW (Indian secret service), and/or Mossad + CIA are wrong.

I am not saying Imran Khan is perfect. I have criticized him for what I believe are his mistakes but I have to say he is a brave man and, if he is sincere, a man of courage and integrity.

The mere fact that he said he wants to speak to the army chief about Waziristan has (I've just checked) infuriated the fascists of the Pakistani nationalist hate-site "defence.pk" who are abusing and insulting him.

For them the army (which led them to humiliation and defeat in 1971 and loss of half of the country) is a sacred institution, for which children and whole families can be killed for.

The reality: In civilized countries the people are the ultimate rulers. They entrust governance to elected representatives who have their mandate and who have more right to speak on national affairs than unelected soldiers whose duty is to serve the security of the people and the borders they live in. In a civilized country, Imran Khan has more right to speak about Waziristan or Pakistani national security than an unelected military officer like Raheel Sharif who has never received a vote in his life.

If Imran Khan, essentially the 2nd most important political leader in Pakistan (and one of the 3 most important alongside the prime minister and army leader) is receiving phone calls from Pakistani citizens from a war-torn region (Waziristan) who are asking him for support, he is perfectly within his rights to want to speak to the army chief, the head of the same army that has led Pakistan to defeat and humiliation.

Pakistan army surrender in east Pakistan in 1971. Imran Khan is worried that the Pakistan army is once again, as it did in 1971, leading Pakistan down the route to humiliation.

Imran Khan being attacked by fascists and army-worshippers of Pakistani hate sites such as defence.pk (Pakistan army/ISI connected site).

Does anyone still believe Imran Khan is pro-Pakistan establishment? Imran Khan has touched on a topic which he was reluctant to speak about last year due to his belief he could win a fair and unrigged election.
